Emsworth vs Skulking Loafers

The visit to Hampshire of The Loafers is one of the tougher fixtures we have with the matches
being very competitive,in a most sporting way.The logistic problem of getting eleven Loafers across the border into Hampshire for a prompt 6pm start is always the most difficult part of the day what with some forgetting that you do not have to find your passport and some not even knowing where Emsworth is .It has proved in the past to be quite an hilarious adventure even when we once hired a mini-bus to get all over in one move we turned up over half an hour late for a game very late in the season and it was almost dark before we started. However all present and correct and off to a prompt start this year. The Loafers made early inroads into the Emsworth batting until M.Offord and W.Pitts came together and put on over a hundred runs together,Emsworth posted 138 for 3 and were in the driving seat.In the twilight of a late summer evening the Loafers began their reply ,maybe worried about the fading light, the batsmen proceeded to get out by rushing things with three run outs only Lee Russell stood firm and eventually found an ally in Shaun Bevis, the pair made batting look easy and had now got Emsworth worried as they brought back the opening bowlers to staunch the flow of runs coming from the Loafers batsmen. In the now almost dark it proved just to much for the batsmen and Emsworth were victors in a well fought and exciting match.Back to the Raglan for beer and grub and chat what more could one want on a summers eve.
