DAY TWENTY TWO - MONDAY JUNE 4, 2001

Imagine a day, a seemingly normal day. Let's say you are in a small Missouri town, Richland is the town's name. It's a seemingly normal town as Missouri goes. But there is a seething underbelly to this town.

You are driving down a state highway when suddenly speeding around a corner is a yellow school bus. You fight to stay on the road and keep from hitting the bus, but it is impossible. CRASH, your mirror is hit and thrown through the driver's side window. Also your RV cabin window is shattered inward. Glass is everywhere.

What do you do? You do what any normal American in that situation does, you stop. Assess your situation. Are you ok? Are the other people in the car alright? Both answers are yes. You assess the damage of your surroundings. Glass is everywhere but other than that things seem to be in order. The other car, what about it? This is where things go incredibly wrong in the small town. The other car, a yellow school bus, is gone. It never stops.

You proceed to the nearest phone and call the police to report the accident. In shock, you try to explain all that you remember, but of course not everything is remembered at that time. You get out the basics. The police take down your information and review the scene of the accident. You are handed a ticket for failing to drive on your side of the road.

Apparently in this strange town, you are at fault for doing nothing, and the person who drives recklessly and leaves the scene of an accident gets to go free.

It is a strange story, but never forget that it is true. Do yourself a big favor, never go to Missouri, no matter what your business.

Before you all ask if we are going to fight the 85 dollar ticket and inevitable points on our driving record, remember that a 31 year police veteran armed with a report of any kind and a town school bus vs 'out of towners' is not a fight at all. Especially when you find out that if the bus is cited as driving wrecklessly all public service vehicles insurance goes up.

Amidst all of this chaos, is Missy. We are sorry this whole page cannot be filled with the joy you brought us, but people, all people need to be warned that Missouri is a very bad place.

Phrase of the day: "Be careful! There are school buses here that try to run you down!"

Wheeeeeeee!

Everyone said the Ozarks were nice.

Flash flood. They're not so good now, are they?

The road of big breasted women? What's with these letter roads? Why is Missouri a state?

Anyone want to go left?

More Ozarks.

Bridal Cave, the 3rd most visited cave in the US (so they say).

A poor man's Carlsbad Caverns.

Petrified jelly fish.
