We kept up the bat out of hell name driving from Ohio, through West Virginia, through Pennsylvania, through New York and on into Massachusetts. Arriving in Rick's home town, Norton, we finally have a warm house to sleep in that doesn't allow rain to enter. We are safe for a day or so.

One interesting thing to note, when traveling in an RV, make sure the other person knows when you go out to walk the dog. If not, the other driver may think you are in the bathroom and drive off. Yes, this actually happened. Rick was driving and had to use the facilities (No. 2). So he pulled over on the side of he highway just ahead of an exit. Laura jumped into the driver's seat. On his way back to the bathroom, Rick notices the dog needs a bathroom break too. So the humane and thoughtful Rick clips on the dog leash and out the RV he goes. Laura, thinking Rick is back in the john, puts the rig in gear and heads on down I90.

Rick, still outside, hears the rumbling of the engine and the scattering of rocks. He runs to catch the RV. The RV slows a second (while a car passes) causing Rick to think Laura has seen him. But she hasn't and she pounds on the gas leaving Rick and Yaz on the side of the highway.

Now the question, when will Laura discover Rick (the man who just gave her a big diamond just a week ago) is not in the RV. Rick, with no way of contacting his fiancee, heads up the exit ramp, across the highway, and down to the bottom of the other exit ramp. He waits. Meanwhile Laura drives onward.

About 10 miles later, Laura starts to wonder. Knowing we haven't eaten much, what could he be doing back there. Yelling as loud as she can is no use in the loud RV. She pulls over. Rick obviously isn't in the RV. She turns the rig around.

Meanwhile, Rick has been waiting on the side of the highway in New York. Ironically, Rick is wearing a Red Sox shirt. He covers his shirt, not to have cars stop, but instead to keep New Yorkers from seeing a Sox fan standing on the side of the highway with a dog.

Help soon came in the form of a state highway patrolman. Imagine how you describe this story to an officer of the law. Luckily, the RV soon appeared and saved Rick from any more embarassment. Both got a good laugh out of the whole event.

Phrase of the day: "New rule! No more driving off and leaving me on the side of the road!"
