January 3, 2002 Happy New Year to everyone! It's now 2002, and the big question on everyone's mind is do we say two-thousand and two? Or is it twenty-oh-two? Just kidding. Actually, the big question is, will this year be better than 2001? After the events of last year, I suspect many people are glad to leave it behind and start a new one fresh with hope for humanity. But if last September taught us anything, it's that we have to question our assumptions on how we see the world, and we can't expect things to magically get better due to a change in the calendar date. There is hard, painful work to be done. I wish I could offer some inspiring words of hope, but, well, those have never been my forte.
Closer to home, thanks to Carolyn for a kick-ass New Year's party, even despite the lousy way it ended. I hope everyone else had a fun celebration and that the hangovers were mild and quickly cured. By the way, I'll concur with most of you guys that Smirnoff Ices are evil.
I can't believe there's only five days left of vacation. Where did the time go? I think I spent too much of it working. Skiing was fun last week though. I posted my latest thought about it. I love the snow, and I definately intend to get a lot more skiing in this winter.
I've been a bit negligent in personal wishes lately. Happy 19th birthday to my sister Amy this Friday the fourth. Yes, kid, this actually does mean you're gonna need to have a future. Happy 25th anniversary to my parents on December 12th. Happy birthday to Cathy on December second, Joanna on the 4th, Mark coming up January 15th, Bryan on the 22nd, and to Noemie Theriault, the first baby of 2002 born in Montreal according to the Gazette. Oh, and to all of you who've been vacationing in warm, sunny places this winter (ahem Shawna and Shawn), I'm jealous.
I went to see A Beautiful Mind tonight and I've posted my review. Aside from that, I haven't had much of a chance to overhaul this dump of a website, but I hope to get to it at some point. Let's put it this way: it's on my list of new year's resolutions (along with the one to quit procrastinating). Well, that's it for now. Enjoy the last few days of vacation, everyone!
