Nander Brown is champion of the East and poor Ricker keeps scoring in bunches and losing. Marshall Faulk was the key. He caught three of the Rams TD passes as Brown was able to cover efforts of Ricker's QB. It is not the Brown is a one man team, Oakland QBs scored 19 points, two of those TDs going to Tim Brown. Bill Schroeder scored on Monday night to give Brown his second 70 point game vs Ricker. He scored 71 in week 1.

It's hard to win if your opponent hangs a 70 on you. It's happened four times to Ricker: Brown twice, and one each by the Moses brothers. If saddled with that kind of bad luck, the best thing you can do is score points. Ricker has been doing just that. 56 points is the highest losing score in the BRFL this year. The second highest is 51 that also by Ricker. A points slot is likely for Ricker. And a trap waiting to spring by the team that draws him in week 15.

If Marshall Faulk is warming up for a late season run like last year. Nander can likely keep playing deep into the playoffs. Last year, the Rams were struggling for a spot and Faulk contributed to the cause by scoring 11 TDs in the last three weeks of the year. Right now Faulk and the Oakland duo will be contending for the best record in the conference. That is likely to keep Nander fueled until those goals are met.

Brad Moses 61 Outlaw 42

Brad Moses and Jackson keep up their torrid pace. Each team has won six straight and continue to lead the West with 9-3 records. Both teams have clinched playoff berths. B-Mo received three scores from New Orleans QBs and could have had two more if officials hadn't intervened with their penalty flags and their bodies. David Boston and Randy Moss each scored and emerging WR Chris Chambers finally cracked the Moses lineup and scored. Garrison Hearst had another huge game and is a thorn in teh side of divison opponent Jackson, who cut him early in the season.

Outlaw may be out of the division chase, but he is in the thick of the points chase. Currently, he is 14 points behind McCowan, but 53 points behind Ricker. TDs by Ahman Green and Bubba Franks gave him 12 points Monday night to close the gap. He also has 12 points from Baltimore QBs and 11 from kicker David Akers. Lots of scoreboard watchin the last couple weeks as Outlaw keeps an eye on McCowan, Bud and Best (if he should drop into the mix) for the final points slot.

Jacksoin 33 McCowan 24

Jackson shook up his team a little this week, trading his back up QB Green Bay for Best's starter, Minnesota in the hopes that Daunte Culpepper would have a more favorable playoff schedule. Two future Hall of Fame WRs were also in the trade as Jerry Rice was traded for Cris Carter. Statistically, the trade was about even, until week 12. Favre accounted for 4 scores and Rice one. In the other side, Carter was shutout and Minnesota got two scores from its backup as Culpepper aggravated an injured knee. This did not effect Jackson on the field as starter San Francisco tossed two TD, one to Terrell Owens. Zack Crockett also scored. Not much effort was needed to subdue McCowan as Jackson caught a break with the schedule.

With this loss, the early season dominance of McCowan is forgotten. The "team that beat JK" is out of a division slot and currently holds a points slot, but is in a fight with Outlaw, Deitrich and possibly Best. The Indy duo of Marvin Harrison and Marcus Pollard scored. Newly acquired QB, Chicago, did nothing despite playing the winless Lions.

Rick Moses 58 Deitrich 33

Rick Moses is 12-0 in the TWFL, but below .500 in the BRFL. He does have some success against familiar opponent Deitrich, the commisioner of the TWFL. He's 2-0 against him this season. R-Mo got started early as Philly QBs hokked up with Duce Staley early in the Thursday night game. Staley accounted for 8 points as did his other two backs Shaun Alexander and Ladainian Tomlinson. Qadry Ismial also scored.

Bud made a QB change, inserting Buffalo over Denver. The Bills were shutout. Rod Gardner scored, but the bulk of Bud's points, 15, came from kicker Matt Stover. A reject from R-Mos team. The loss does not yet eliminate Bud from a division slot, he will need to win his last two while R-Mos loses. He is currently 30 points behind a points slot.

Best 42 Cantrell 23

Best failed to take full advantage of the gifts from Jackson this week. He started Pittsburgh and left Green Bay on the bench. Those are 24 points he may need later if he falls into the points mix. Still, the win keeps him two games ahead of Ricker and eliminates Cantrell from second place in the east. He did start new acquired Jerry Rice who scored as well as Corey Dillon, Laveranues Coles and the Miami D. Joinging Favre on the bench was Emmitt Smith who finally scored in week 12!

Cantrell's is season is pretty much over. He's been eliminated from a division slot and his far behind in the points chase. Unlike the TWFL, there is no "toilet bowl" so that indignity does not have to be suffered.

Jones Klingman 48 Cousins 41

Cousins had shown some spunk lately with Tennessee's offense coming back to life, even against stiff defenses like Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Credit JK for noticing that and giving a rare start to Derrick Mason, almost a forgotten man, at WR. Mason caught two of Steve McNair's TDs and JK was able to keep pace with Cousins. Indy QBs scored 13 and Joe Horn has "only" 9. Had he not collided with back judge Phil Luckett (the "Leon Lett" of NFL officials), Horn could have scored on a bomb.

Cousin's loss also eliminates him from division contention. He's two games behind R-Mo, but will lose out on division record. Cousins is winless in the division while R-MO is 3-1. Tennessee QBs scored 3 TDs and the Bus scored once. John Kasay led all BRFL kickers with 13 points this week. A points slot is a very very remote chance, but still possible.

Week 12 Preview

As division play returns, it looks like there are four solid teams and eight teams in the scramble for four slots. In the East, Brown can wrap it up with a win this week. In the Central, JK has it wrapped up. In the West, Jackson and Brad Moses look unstoppable with their twin five game winning streaks.

The rest of the league is a complete mish-mash, but smart money is on Ricker, R-Mo and McCowan to grab spots. That leaves one more team, a bottom feeder to break out during division play.

Make it four straight 5-1 weeks. I'm 42-23-1 for the year.

Ricker vs Brown

Last week, it wasn't his Rams that bailed him out on Monday night, it was his Bucs. If it wasn;t for Mike Alstott and Warrick Dunn, Ricker would have lost another due to less than stellar production from St Louis. The rams are in Atlanta. The Falcons don't play well at home, but they don't get blown out either. The Bucs are in Cincinnati. An easy enough game, but the Bucs are like most teams, prone to the letdown after a big Monday night win.

This is a rematch of Week 1 in which Brown romped 71-24, and it could be as productive for Brown as that game was. Marshall Faulk is there to counter balance Ricker's Rams. And Oakland is home against Arizona. Break out the champagne, Nander, you will clinch this week.

Cantrell vs Best

Is it a colossal overaction to Duante Culpepper's not throwing a TD pass for the first time in 25 games? A cry for help after getting stomped on by Cousins? Best traded Min QBs and Cris Carter. Yes, his beloved Vikings, to Jackson for Green Bay QBs and Jerry Rice.
Statistically a fair swap. And one that would have looked a lot more ridiculous in August then it does in December.

For Hank, switching QBs has been no big deal. He has stuck with Arizona the last couple weeks with mixed success. This week Oakland hosts Arizona. Best has better matchups and will prevail.

Rick Moses vs Deitrich

This is a key game for determining second place in the Central. R-Mo has the edge due to his week 1 victory over Bud. A Bud victory gets him a game and neutralizes the head to head component of the tiebreaker. Should R-Mo prevail again, he has a game lead, he would have to lose his next two with Bud winning the next two to miss out on the playoffs. R-Mo to bury him with Philly starting Thursday and to cruise through the weekend.

Jones/Klingman vs Cousins

Back to back loses have brought high flying JK back to earth. But the division is wrapped, so now they are playing for playoff seeding. They have wins over Brown and Brad Moses, but not Jackson. Coach Jim Mora went potty mouth again last week. The time he did that before, it cost him the job as the Saints coach. However, it is thought that the desired effect would be to motivate Peyton Manning. Perhaps this week it will, but then Indy is at Baltimore.

Cousins got a huge game from Tennesee last week, but this week, they play AT Cleveland. That's no longer a cream puff game. The "Bus" goes against the Vikings, huge holes there. Cousins will make it interesting, but JK will eek this out.

Outlaw vs Brad Moses

B-Mo claims to be very comfortable with his team and is looking good with five straight wins. This week, Terrell Davis is expected to make a reappearnce. However, can he bump Mike Anderson from the goal line (or B-Mo's starting line up). No such trouble with B'Mos other re-hab project, Garrison Hearst. He looked solid scoring twice last week. New Orleans QBs get the Panthers at home. Yikes. B-Mo won by 2 in week 1, He should win by 20 this week.

Jackson vs McCowan

To those wondering if this weeks trade was the latest in a long line of cozy deals between Jackson and Best, consider this: Their last trade involved Best swapping Jackson Timmy Smith for Lionel Manuel and Troy Stradford. 1988, week 1. Best's first game in the BRFL.

McCowan has his way with Jackson in week 1, but this was before Jackson began to jell. Terrell Owens may be on the sideline against Buffalo, but Jackson SR'ed JJ Stokes as insurance. Stokes has scored the last two weeks. Curious that McCowan had Stokes last week as an SR and didn't keep him to use against Jackson this week. Such moves decide seasons. This is Jackson's season.
