Outlaw looked dead in the water as the week began, but one big week, one big night from Miami QBs, and he is back in the playoff picture.
He is hoping to qualify based on points for the third stright year. He now has 511 points, just behind Ricker at 533. Deitrich and
McCowan are the other points contenders. Outlaw got 30 points from Miami QBs (Both Jay Fieldler and Ray Lucas scored). Stephen
Davis and Ahman Green and the Philly D got TDs plus bonus. While 64 points was enough to launch Outlaw into a points slot,
he could have even improved his standing with 14 more points from Michael Bennett. Bennett was on the bench this week for the second
straight week and second straight big game.
For Jackson, it is the end of a six game winning streak, but the loss does not matter in terms of settling the division with Brad Moses.
Whoever wins in week 14 between Jackson and Moses is the West champ. SF QBs, Anthony Thomas and Jimmy Smith scored. Kris Brown
kicked in 12 points. The recently acquired Minnesota QBs remained on Jackson's bench, but scored 25 points with back up Todd Bouman at QB.

Brown 44 Best 32
Tim Brown and Troy Brown both returned 80 plus yard punts as Nander Brown won for the sixth stright week. Only one other time
had two punt returns been recorded in a BRFL game, both by Eric Metcalf (who was a Cleveland BROWN at the time). That was also
accomplished against Best by Wallace in 1995. (Wallace also owned the Cleveland D/ST to double up both those TDs.)
Oakland QBs and Marshall Faulk each scored two TDs to help Brown become the first league rookie since Stroupe in 1990 to win
10 games. This sign bodes well for Brown as both Stroupe in 1990 and Gravelesse in 1989 were the other 10 win rookies AND both
were BRFL champions.
Despite the loss, Best is back in the playoffs. Cantrell's win over Ricker backs Best in. Best will be in his 12th playoff in 14 seasons.
The return is sweet after missing last year for the first time since 1989. Jerry Rice, Corey Dillon and Green Bay QBs scored in
an otherwise lackluster week.

Cantrell 41 Ricker 33
A couple late Sunday TDs helped Cantrell slide past Ricker. Both Arizona QBs and Tony Gonzales scored with under two minutes in
the 4:15 games. In a battle of teams that traded with Brad Moses, both Ricky Williams and Mike Alstott scored. Ricker's Rams
only tossed two TDs against the 49'ers in a game that many had pegged as a shootout. Congrats to those that bet "the under".
Cantrell patience with a couple players was rewarded this week. Maurice Smith scored for the first time in 8 weeks and
Keyshawn Johnson scored for the first time all year. Although he can potentially tie for second, Hank will lose a tiebreaker
to Best who beat him twice.
Ricker's loss eliminates him from second place in the East , but he is on solid ground for a points slot leading McCowan by 51
points and Deitrich by 65.

Jones/Klingman 52 Rick Moses 37
Jones Klingman won for the second time against R-mo and put up 52 points for the second time. Peyton Manning was shut out, but
Priest Holmes picked up the slack with 18 points. That's two TDs and 6(!) bonus points. Joe Horn, Curtis Martin and Derrick Mason
each had a TD. The win with, Jackson's loss now makes JK the top seed for the playoffs. If the playoffs begin today, they
would be facing Ricker in a rematch of last years Super Bowl.
Coupled with his loss and Deitrich's win, R-Mo failed to secure a second place playoff slot. If they same situation happens
this week, R-Mo will surrender second to Bud. However, a likely points slot will await as R-Mo leads both Ricker and
Outlaw in points. R-Mo will face Cousins in week 14 while JK squares off against Bud. Philly QBs scored twice and Duce Staly and
Darrell Jackson scored once for his lacklust production this week.

Deitrich 37 Cousins 21
Deitrich gained a game on Rick Moses by defeating Cousins, who is apparently on "autopilot". If Bud wins next week and Cousins defeats
R-Mo, Bud will win second in the Central. Although Bud and R-Mo have teh same record, R-Mo has a tie breaker due to a head to head sweep.
Antowain Smith scored twice, Buffalo's QBs, Oakland's D/ST and Desmond Clark once for Bud. On the points side of things, Bud
chances slipped considerably as he was outscored by Outlaw who had a huge week.
For at least the third time this year, Cousins went with a default lineup. This lineup included Jerome Bettis who sat this week out.

Brad Moses 50 McCowan 21
The tale of two teams continuing to move in different directions.
Brad Moses won his seventh straight (tops in the league this year) and McCowan lost his fifth straight. B-Mo holds a one
game lead over Jackson, but the division title hinges on their week 14 showdown. Red hot rookie Chris Chambers scored twice
(7 TDs in five games) Monday night and New Orleans QBs, Randy Moss, Garrison Hearst and Cleveland's D scored once. B-mo is
currently tracking as the number 2 seed in the BRFL playoffs which woyuld paoir him against his brother in round 1 if the
playoffs began today.
McCowan's continued slide is baffling and now the lack of scoring as caught up to him as he slips behind Outlaw
in the points race. DMC will face Outlaw in week 14 and will need to beat him by 29 points and hope that Deitrich does not score
him by 14 and that Rick Moses wins a division slot. The only scores of note from DMC were by the Giants QBs and one
from Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala who may be back on the bench this week if Jerome Bettis returns.

There isn't really as much at stake in week 13 as you might think. Two of the division are settled and the third, the West, won't be
decided until Jackson and Brad Moses meet in week 14. Best and Rick Moses can wrap up playoff slots with wins, but both are playing first place
teams and the task will be difficult.
I was 6-0 last week and now 48-23-1. I've gone 21-3 over the last month. Will the hot streak continue? Stay tuned.
|
Ricker vs Cantrell
Despite a 4-8 record, Ricker is sitting pretty for a playoff spot. He's 69 points ahead in the points race and should Best lose this week
and Ricker win, he can win a division slot if he defeats Best in week 15.
Cantrell's season is over. It's not to say he can't make a game out of it. Red-hot Arizona has Washington at home and the Skins and
Cards are usually inclined to get into a shootout. Ricky Williams plays the Falcons. He has a chance, against anyone but Ricker.
Ricker's Rams are playing the 49'ers where folks are betting on a shootout. The over/under is 57. The Bucs play the Lions at home.
Ricker has had teams hit 70 against him four times this year. Too bad he can't play one of them this week.
|
Brown vs Best
Best could sure use the 75 points his lineup potentially scored last week for this week. Brett Favre
plays against the Bears, a stout team defensively, but weak against the pass. But Best's hopes rest in his two Raiders, Charlie Garner and
Jerry Rice and whether or not they have the abilty to take catches away from Tim Brown.
Nander's Oakland QBs and Tim Brown are home against the Chiefs. Marshall Faulk plays the 49'ers in a game with shootout potential. And if
Favre gets hot, Bill Schoeder could be the guy to keep pace.
Best won the first game 31-27. Brown will win his sixth in a row with a much higher score.
|
Rick Moses vs Jones/Klingman
JK won a 52-51 war in week 2 and all eyes turned to this game this week as the game that would settle things in the Central. Not
quite as it turned out. JK continued to play at a high level and R-Mo became wildly inconsistent, capable of either scoring 90
one week and 30 the next. JK has things wrapped up in the divison, but R-Mo requires one nmore win to get it. Neither team has
match ups to get excited about. However, the pick here is R-Mo in something slightly low scoring.
|
Deitrich vs Cousins
Bud has a slim chance of stealing second from R-Mo. Cousins has been playing well lately as Tennessee has been on the rise. But despite his success,
Cousins has been somewhat disconnected lately; he started a defense that was on a bye last week.
Bud squeaks by as Cousins fails to note that Bettis is injured.
|
Outlaw vs Jackson
Jackson is looking for his 7th straight win. He gets Anthony Thomas back from injury and has SF playing in the shootout against St Louis.
Cris Carter may get some opportunities against a weak Tennessee secondary.
Outlaw is hoping for points, points and more points. It does not look likely, his matchups are not that solid this week.
Expect Jackson to romp to his 7th straight.
|
Brad Moses vs McCowan
What a difference a month makes. DMC was 5-2-1 and has a 1/2 game lead over Brad Moses, who had won two straight to climb to 5-3. Over the
next four weeks B-Mo won and DMC lost. McCowan thanks to his early season play is hanging onto a points slot. This smells like a trap for
B-Mo, but it won't be. McCowan will make a repectable showing, but Brad could prevail late to set up a huge showdown with Jackson
to settle the division and top seed in week 14.
