| I walk through my yesterdays and into my tomorrows like walking through a forest. My yesterdays still exist behind me, as do the trees I have passed. They (my yesterdays) still grow, they still harbour life, and others pass them in their own way. My future stretches out ahead of me, paths without number open up for my feet. My decisions determine my direction. But all future possibilities already exist, as all the paths in the forest already exist though I have not trodden them yet. I walk through images of myself as I walk through my yesterdays. This image that I wear now is not the one I wore yesterday. That image seeks its own fulfilment unknown to me. It knows of my passing through it as I know the thoughts that pass through my mind. All the images that I have worn and might have worn, and all those that I will wear, and all those I could choose to wear, exist around me like a forest. Looking back, I choose the remember certain images, and call them my past. Looking forward, I choose certain images to move through, and they become my future. |
