Haileah Amelia Earhart Park
Terrain: Under 10 miles of trails. All trails are moderately well marked and are good for all skill levels--use good judgment to ride obstacles. Skill To Get There: Take I-75 towards Hialeah/Miami. I-75 will turn towards the east coast and will become SR 924. Exit south on SR 823 (NW 57th Avenue). Turn east on NW 122nd Street to reach the park's west entrance on the north side of the road. The main gate is on the east side of the park. The trailhead is on the northwest corner of the park, so follow the paved road towards that area and turn right onto an unpaved path. These trails officially opened in late 2002 after hard work by passionate and dedicated local volunteers. Prior to this opening, trails were not maintained and were dirty. Their efforts have yielded trails suitable for all skill levels and all types of cyclists.
Suitable for beginners or warm-up riding, wide doubletrack trails meander around the park's lakes. Non-beginner riders can expect other trails to be sandy, rooty, or hardpack covered with loose rock. There are smooth transitions from faster sections to harder areas, some of which offer technically challenging, man-made obstacles. The pictures below are representative of some of these obstacles.
Trails are moderately well marked and there are sections under the shade as well as the sun. Mosquitoes and "no-see-ums" can nasty at dawn and dusk so bring repellent.
