Kris's Baby Journal 2
November 2004

Tuesday, November 20 (6.1 weeks old)
I almost let the entire month go by without an update.

We have a big baby on our hands, I have a breast infection and my mom drove from New Jersey for Thanksgiving.

Max weighed 9.8 pounds at his appointment at the beginning of the month, and last week he weighed in at 12 pounds. Wow. That's 2.5 pounds in 2.5 weeks. He's a big guy.

I noticed a couple nights before Thanksgiving that my right boob was kinda sore. Then the night before, it was really sore and I was not feeling well at all. I thought about calling Colleen, but didn't want to bother her.

Thanksgiving morning I felt awful. I had an awful headache and backache, my boob was killing me and I was burning up. I looked up the symptoms in my Womanly Art oif Breastfeeding book and it seemed I had a breast infection. I called Colleen and she agreed. I'm glad I was able to find a pharmacy that was open. She prescribed some antibiotics and said it wouldn't affect Max since only a very small amount would make it into my breastmilk.

I felt pretty crappy all day. Feeding Max on the right side killed, but I had to keep using it to help the infection. John did nearly everything to get ready for dinner and I was able to rest most of the day. I started feeling a little bit better the next day, and much better by Saturday. The biggest problem, besides feeding on the right side, was bending over to get something. My head would throb when I stood back up.

John had a great time playing with his uncle Sam. And Sam babied him the entire time, picking him up and carrying him all over. John loved the attention. I'm glad they're coming back for Christmas.
