Singapore to host joint conference in 2000

After Kuala Lumpur ... it's all systems go at the National Archives of Singapore (NAS), the host and lead agency of the joint SEAPAVAA-IASA (International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives) conference in Singapore scheduled 3 to 7 July 2000. This period will be both a visual and gastronomic delight since the conference will coincide with the annual Singapore Food Festival which is expected to spark more interest among the delegates.

Some 15 five-star and other highly rated hotels are located in Singapore and it is the world class Hotel Intercontinental which has been chosen to house the new millennium delegates.

NAS is currently finalizing the formation of the local Organizing Committee but members of the Programme and Publicity Committees have been identified as follows: Program Committee: Ray Edmondson, SEAPAVAA President; Dato Habibah Zon, SEAPAVAA Councilor; Annella Mendoza, SEAPAVAA Councilor; Sven Allerstrand, IASA President; Albrecht Haefner, IASA Secretary General; Chong Ching Liang, Research Officer (Oral History Center, NAS); Irene Lim, Assistant Director (Audiovisual Archives, NAS); and Publicity Committee: Jean Wein, Chair of SEAPAVAA Promotions Committee;Chris Clark, IASA Editor; and Sharon Yap, Archives Officer (Audiovisual Archives, NAS).

In September this year, Belina SB. Capul will be participating at the IASA Annual Conference in Vienna, Austria. In her capacity as SEAPAVAA secretary-general, she will meet with IASA officers and formally extend the invitation to attend the joint conference in year 2000.
