SINGAPORE:
AAVIS website

The National Archives of Singapore (NAS) recently completed the development of a website to showcase their collection of moving images, sound recordings, and oral history interviews. The website is known as the Automated Audio-Visual Information System (AAVIS) website and the address is http://picas.nhb.gov.sg/aavis/

From 19 April to 12 June this year, NAS conducted a two-month trial run among a select group of users to test the website. The following titles were initially made available and more records were continuously included during the period of the trial run:

  • Berita Singapura Series (53 records), a collection of news magazine items produced for television broadcasting on the economic and social developments of Singapore in the 1960's;

  • Television Corporation of Singapore English News Collection (53 records) dated 01/01/1998 to 31/01/1998; and

  • Oral History Interviews (114 records) on projects like: Japanese Occupation of Singapore 1942 to 1945; Political Development of Singapore 1945 to 1965; Development of Education in Singapore; Pioneers of Singapore and Special Project.
