Shogun to the
site. Second, I have a new screenshot of Waluigi
from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. Third, I have new screenshots of Rex
and the Hammer Bros. from Mario & Luigi, a new
Gameboy Advance RPG! The Rex shot also shows Dry Bones.

2003-5-14: Tomorrow is the site's fourth anniversary! I'd like to celebrate
by taking a moment to recognize the volunteers who have helped the site this year:

2003-5-9: I'm adding Octovader from Super Mario RPG this week. Also new quotes for Shadow Mario and some changes to the evolution section of Birdo. They address Birdo's weird gender issues.
2003-5-2: Geckit is the newest Super Mario RPG enemy added to the compendium, and I have another screenshot from Mario Kart Double Dash!! Check out the Koopa Troopa Kart at the bottom of the page.
2003-4-25: I have Chow from Super Mario RPG to
add to the compendium and Alex adds the Giant Snake
from Wario Land 2. Plus, a screenshot of Bowser
and Bowser Junior racing against DK and Diddy Kong, plus
four other characters from the new GameCube game, Mario Kart Double Dash!!
(It's the same shot on both pages)
After that news, I'm almost embarassed to add that I've made minor changes to
K-9's page.
2003-4-17: I have Chewy popping in from Super Mario RPG this week, plus cool new package art from Wario World! That's on the Wario page, of course.
2003-4-11: It's time for a good old Super Mario RPG update. I'm adding Yaridovich this week, and Christian is adding Master Hand from Super Smash Bros. Sadly, this may be the end of the double character updates for a little while.
2003-4-5: Cave Master joins the compendium courtesy of Alex. Yoshi is added thanks to Christian, who also sent me a new picture for Bob-omb a while ago, and I have added a new picture to that page as well. As you may have noticed, this is not the usual update time, I'm planning to move updates to Fridays starting next week.
2003-3-31: Christian delivers a page for Bowser Junior from Super Mario Sunshine, and I have a page for Speedy Spirit from Luigi's Mansion. I also made a new picture for Gold Ghost, and I have moved all of the monsters whose names start with S to the alternate site, so you need to change any links or bookmarks you have to those monsters.
2003-3-23: Alex brings us Bobo the Crow
from Wario Land and Wario Land 2. Christian adds Tryclyde
from Super Mario Bros. 2. Christian and I also have some small updates to
contribute to Cataquack and
Il Piantissimo.

2003-3-17: The double updates continue! Christian created a page for Waluigi while I have a page for Super Mario RPG's Jonathan Jones as well as very minor updates to Bandana Red and Blue. Also this week, a pair of new Shyguy pictures sent to me by Christian.
2003-3-10: Two new monsters this week! Contributor Graham Miles made a page for Chain Chomplet and Alex Jaffe gives us Macro Mouse from Super Mario Land 2! Please take a second to answer the new survey, and I should also add that I have moved the monsters with names going alphabetically from Sackit to Sparky so update your bookmarks if you have any!
2003-3-2: This week I've updated a few different things. First, Christian Guzman did Tweeter for the site, and I've added him to the Staff page. Second, I added Mai Shiranui to the Gender Equality page. Finally, I made a new image of Giga Bowser for your viewing pleasure.
2003-2-24: Another double monster update this week! Upcoming staff member Christian Guzman did Shadow Mario from Super Mario Sunshine and Alex did King Boo from Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine!
2003-2-17: I have a double monster update from Super Mario RPG this week: Bandana Red and Bandana Blue, the pirate sharks from the Sea! I also changed the links page and made minor changes to Buzzy Beetle and Buzzer.
2003-2-10: Happy birthday to me! There, with that out of my system, Alex
Jaffe continues the Super Mario Sunshine updates with Il Piantissimo!
Artichoker gets a new screenshot and Bowyer,
Bowser and Bundt get minor updates.
On a final note, there is a new Game
Repair Site looking for gamers' funny stories and screenshots, if you have
anything like that, give them a visit and look in the miscellaneous section!
2003-2-4: This update marks the very first brand-new Super Mario Sunshine enemy to join the compendium: Cataquack. I also have new quotes for Bob-omb from Paper Mario and small updates to Booster and Boshi.
2003-1-28: It's an all-contributor update this week! Alex Jaffe brings us Giga Bowser. Jesse contributed two pieces of fan art available on the Koopa and Chomp pages. (They also include Boo, Bandit, Dry Bones, Spiked Goomba and Ninji). Finally, I removed one site from the links page.
2003-1-21: This week I'm adding a new picture and a counter to Bob-omb. Alex Jaffe also contributed an update to the Gender Equality page, see his Captain Syrup rant! Finally, I've made some minor updates to Birdo, Blooper, Blue Goomba and Blurp.
2003-1-14: This week another one of the Sunken Ship characters swims out of Super Mario RPG. Meet Hidon, the nasty kung-fu treasure chest! I also made minor changes to the sample monster page and the monster pages alphabetically from Arachne to Belome.
2003-1-6: King Calamari swims into
the compendium this week, along with updates to Piranha
Plant. I've also made small updates to the contact page and to the characters
going alphabetically from Alley Rat to Apprentice Torte.
SPECIAL NOTE: I have discovered that my frames don't work properly in some newer
versions of web browsers. Luckily, the site still works okay, it's just not perfect
(use the back button after visiting a page to return to the frames). Since this
will take a while to fix, I'm going to leave the site the way it is for now.
2002-12-30: This week Alex Jaffe brings us Captain Syrup
of Wario Land fame, and I have a new screenshot plus other minor updates to
that casino-hound, Grate Guy.
As a little Christmas present for the site's visitors I made up a top 20
list of monsters from the compendium, based on their hits! The race for the top
3 is pretty much settled, but after that the race is quite close. Amanita makes
a surprise appearance in 16th place, beating all other monsters from Super Mario
RPG including Boshi and all of the bosses.
1. Koopa - The humble Koopa Troopas are way out in front with nearly 9000 hits!
2. Goomba - Goomba is in a distant second with 7621 hits.
3. Bowser - Bowser is way behind with a mere 6846 hits, but he's slowly gaining.

2002-12-23: This week Fuzzies hop out of Paper Mario and into the compendium! I also have a new addition to the links section, check out The Nintendo Crib.
2002-12-16: This week I'm adding Strawhead
from Super Mario RPG, and I've updated Amanita
with a fixed image and a counter. Plus, a small update to Hobgoblin.
2002-12-9: Since very few Mario games have points anymore, I've decided to
combine Experience Points, Star Points and regular points all under the "Points"
heading on new monster pages. I will also make this change to older monsters,
but it will take some time.
This week Alex Jaffe created a page for one of Wario's enemies, Giant Spear Man
and I have some small additions to the background of Birdo;
thanks to site visitor EDcrow who pointed out the missing info.
2002-12-2: Almost Christmas! This week, I've added Gorgon from Super Mario RPG, as well as a new picture for Fry Guy and some minor changes to Enigma and Goomba.
2002-11-25: Time for a classic Super Mario Monster Compendium style update: one new Super Mario RPG monster (Alley Rat) and one update to an old monster (new Koopa quotes). I also made a minor change to Rat Funk's page.
2002-11-18: Remember the Micro Goomba poll I ran a month or two ago? Well I am finally adding Micro Goomba / Goombette to the site this week. I also have a new picture of Goomba from Game & Watch Gallery 4 and I made one final adjustment to the battle information for Blooper in Super Mario Sunshine.
2002-11-10: Time for the update, a little bit early! This week's update is courtesy of contributors: Alex Jaffe created a page for Mini Fry Guy, Alex Innes gave me a bit of an update for the evolution of Shy Guy, and GiantDevilFish pointed out that I mixed up Chained Kong with Geurilla. Also one new link to visit under Nintendo fan-sites!
2002-11-4: This week I'm adding Bat from Luigi's Mansion to the compendium, plus a new image for Chargin' Chuck. I also have some major additions to the links section and minor updates to Purple Puncher and Mack.
2002-10-28: Two new monsters this week! Alex Jaffe contributes Fry Guy to the compendium and new contributor, Alex Innes, offers Bandit to the compendium. You can contact Alex Innes here.
2002-10-21: Alex has been contributing to the site so long, I wanted to make
him an official staff member. So head over to the brand-new staff page
to congratulate him.
Also this week, Pirate Goom joins the compendium,
thanks to Alex, and Goomba gets a new screenshot
from Mario Party 4.
2002-10-12: Going out of town update! I'll be gone on Monday for Thanksgiving
(the Canadian kind of Thanksgiving) so here's Monday's update today! It's like
looking into the future!
Reacher is the latest addition to the compendium
from Super Mario RPG. I have also updated the battle strategies for
Blooper and the Links.

2002-10-7: This is a very special update, as this week we celebrate the 100th
unique monster to join the compendium! Thanks to Alex Jaffe, who did
the page for our 100th character, Wanderin' Goom
from Wario Land!
To celebrate, I also have major updates to Koopa Paratroopa
and Bob-omb including quotes, strategies and
pictures from Paper Mario and Super Mario Sunshine!
2002-9-30: I have one new character this week: Greaper
from Super Mario RPG. I also have a new piece of fan art for Bowser,
and small updates to Paragoomba and the links page (check out
Only for Nintendo Studios, the newest addition to the links).
As for the voting, it was extremely close! In the end, "together" won with 15
votes to 14 votes. So I'm going to put the characters on the same page, but it
won't be on the site for a few weeks yet. Thanks for voting!
2002-9-23: No new monsters this week, I have a bunch of little updates instead.

Chargin' Chuck had some silly mistakes that I
made fixed; finally, I had to take one of the sites in my links section down.
The voting is currently at 10 to 8 votes in favour of putting the Goombas on separate
pages, I'll end voting next Monday. Please don't vote more than once per day!
2002-9-18: A special bonus update. I can't decide whether Goombette and Micro-Goombas should be considered the same enemy or not, so you dear visitors get to decide for me via an e-mail survey! I'll post the results in a couple of weeks. I have also added a partial enemy list for Super Mario Sunshine to the Compendium: the new enemies don't have actual pages, but you can see their names by going to the monster archives and then the games section. 2002-9-16: A nice, big update! I'm adding Dry Bones to the compendium, plus background info updates for Bob-omb and Wario courtesy of Alex Jaffe, and finally an update for Blooper including battle strategies for Super Mario Sunshine and some other new info from contributor Giant Devilfish!
2002-9-9: It's catch-up week as I update two monsters already in the compendium. Bullet Bill has new Super Mario RPG screenshots for your viewing pleasure, and Koopa Troopas get a big Paper Mario update including screens, quotes and battle strategies. Also minor updates to Lakitu and Goomba.
2002-9-2: First off, the links have been updated, with Luna's new web address. Second, Alex has delivered Tatanga to the monster compendium this week. Third, I've updated Crusty's battle strategies section. Fourth, there are some very small updates to Mack and Bloober. Have a nice week!
2002-8-26: Alex Jaffe's triumphant return signals a special double update from each of us! This week Chargin' Chuck from Super Mario World and Purple Puncher from Luigi's Mansion both join the monster compendium. Also a minor update to Gold Ghost.
2002-8-19: Time for the Paper Mario character I promised two weeks ago...how about two? Chan and Lee are taking a break from working out at the Toad Town Dojo to visit the compendium!
2002-8-12: With the help of new volunteer, lilpeep, we have a new friend from Yoshi's Island this week: Sluggy The Unshaven. I have also added new artwork for Game Guy. And for the icing on the cake, my first picture of a Bob-omb from Super Mario Sunshine! See the evolution section for it.
2002-8-7: Sorry about the late update. No new characters this week, but I have new artwork for Enigma, new background information for Zeostar, and updated battle strategies for Gold Ghost. Next week, a new character from Paper Mario!
2002-7-29: This week I just have a single new character for the compendium, but it's a pretty big one. Get all the info on Magikoopas now!
2002-7-22: Here comes that giant crab, Crusty! I also have new strategies and screens of Bloober, including a screen from Super Mario Sunshine! Plus very minor updates to Little Goomba and Wario. Tune in next week when I'll be adding a classic Mario enemy to the compendium.
2002-7-15: For those of you looking for a break from Super Mario RPG monsters (I know I am!) I'm working on a few characters from Paper Mario...but you'll have to wait a couple of weeks yet. :) In the meantime, Mr. Kipper is new to the compendium this week, and I've transcribed the letter to Goombario in the quotes section of The Goomba Brothers pages. The link above is to Red Goomba, but Blue has the same letter on his quotes page.
2002-7-5: I'll be out of town on Monday, so this week we have an early update. Leuko is added to the compendium, while Zeostar gets a minor update. I have also fixed any broken e-mail addresses that were still hanging around the site.
2002-7-1: Zeostar takes a trip from Super Mario RPG to the compendium, and Mastadoom gets a tiny new screenshot. Also, I'd like to thank all my visitors for putting the Mario Monster Compendium up over 20,000 hits! Yay for visitors!
2002-6-24: I have two new screenshots of Bloober from Super Mario Sunshine! Plus a funky new main image for Croco.
2002-6-17: This week Alex brings us a page for Game Guy from Mario Party 3, and I have added four new screenshots of Wario from his Gamecube debut, Wario World! I've also updated and expanded the links section.
.2002-6-3: This update marks a special occasion...I am adding Bloobers to the compendium, and that completes all of the monsters from the original Super Mario Bros! I also have a new render of Starslap available today.
