History This site started approximately in 1996, when it was cool just to have a web page. Gaudy backgrounds, annoying music, and distracting animated icons peppered the screen. Since then I decided to make a webpage that people could visit and find useful information so I turned it into a mountain biking website. It would have been much easier to make a garish myspace page. In early 2005 the site surpassed 30,000 unique visits and I stopped counting. I enjoy mountain biking and have used the web to find new trails. MTBR was great until the reviews became so numerous and so many places were listed that it became cumbersome to use. When I go to an unfamiliar city and want to ride, it's very difficult to find a trail based on informal naming convention. I consider my site not as the ultimate guide, but rather a beginning point for research. Find what you want using the map and read my review. Now that you know what to look for, check MTBR for a second opinion if you like. It has taken years to ride most of the trails in
Florida, accumulate photos, and write personal reviews. The only trails I
haven't been to are the lesser known ones in rural areas. It is a little
more difficult to maintain this site since I have more obligations now, and
maybe in the future I could use some help. Sorry about the annoying ads,
but I don't get paid to do this! (I accept donations if you want to make
this site advertisement free.) Ride smart, be safe, and have fun out
there! |
