Called mom today....”finally!!” she was probably thinking. Mom’s worry a lot dont they?
Day started out early again BUT I finally got a good nights sleep, even dreamed! Spent a large part of the day in Lake Superior Provincial Park. By 9am I was already hiking. The trail took me to the coast where I enjoyed a long hike on the endless beach and rocks that cover the shoreline. Crossed one rock filled river barefooted so as to continue my hike on the far shoreline. Almost slipped a few times, luckily I didn’t or I woulda SO ~beeped~ (edited for young eyes hehe) up my camera. Feet are still sore from that stunt, was stupid I know I know.... The hike was 17 km’s total. Very impressed by the distance I went! Got attacked while on the trail though by an irate ptarmigan, it put up a “tres formidable” act for me, then when that didn’t work to scare me off it played injured to lure me away from its baby, or eggs, im not sure which. Saw another ptarmigan that day on the hike, this one WITH its baby, was very cute.
I have now entered the “interior” of Ontario, I am presently getting ready to sleep in this truck stop 1/2 hour west of Sudbury. Tomorrow I plan to complete my drive to Algonquin Provincial Park where I may stay for upwards of a week before heading to Southern Ontario.
Saw another moose today, this one almost got hit by the vehicle in front of me, I almost had to ditch the car to miss the vehicle in front of me as it swerved to avoid the moose. Also saw a mule deer today as well. It was off to the side of the road though :-) “Good Dear!!”
Im starting to hate running into highway improvement operations along the trans-canada, thats 3!!! now. Im worried about my tires blowing on me, cause these areas where the improvements are being made have me driving on large sections of road with big ass jagged rocks everywhere...my tires were not good to begin with on this trip!
During the day I was continually amazed by how Northern Ontario is VERY similar(especially around the Lake Superior coast) to the BC coast in that it was very high altitude and very “mountainous”, or high hills at the very least...made me very homesick for the west coast...
PS I took a shower today hehe. And I spoiled myself with a sub from Mr. sub, YUMMY!! :-) |
