Day started out rainy and ugly out so I stayed in bed till 10 am. After breakfast I decided that despite the rain that I was going hiking. I stripped down and put on my swim trunks and a rain proof jacket on over top. My camera I safely buried under my jacket and to be safe on the wet trail I wore my work boots who had proven themselves to be trail worthy and work even on wet slippery rocks the day before, the only problem with them is their excessive weight, I tire more quickly wearing them. I hit 4 trails today, well actually 5 but the last one is just a pissy little thing. 1.9km, 2.1km, 0.8km, 1km, and a 3.5km. The last one “Hemlock Bluff Trail” I enjoyed a lot, saw a loon(3rd that day), also had a cool downward view at one point of a beaver swimming on the surface of a large lake. But I was bout a 60 feet above it so I didn’t try to photograph it, was to far away for that to be worth while.
Peck Lake Trail(1.9km) even though it was raining heavily I think I got some great pictures. Both of a mating pair of loons and of another species of water fowl that im not sure of yet. Looked like a loon but with different almost reddish coloring. Got back to camp round 5pm and put my bike together for the first time since I got to the campground. Went for a bit of a bike ride and stopped in to say hey to Emily, but she was busy so maybe ill go back later tonight.
The bear trap was successful im happy to say, Emily said a mother and baby cub were captured and relocated elsewhere in there park today, cool!
The tent did leak late night but only 2 drops could be found, maybe this tent will do after all. |
