Day 24 Ont.

Saturday, July 17, 1999

Woke up early to drive Mel and her sister to yet another Multicultural festival going on in Manitoba. This one was in a small, very french dominant town called St.Claude west of Winnipeg. I spent the day in St.Claude watching Mel perform and checking out the other pavilions that although were small were pretty impressive considering the size of the town. Most of all it was just cool to see Mel perform cause I had never had a chance to do so before, but as it turns out I wish I had a chance to see her dance in the Winnipeg Festival cause she said it was a much more impressive show by far(no big surprise that it would be).

At the french pavilion I saw a group performing french songs(and VERY well I might add), even if I didn’t know what they were saying or what the songs were about, I was still impressed by their talent, and their harmonization was incredible! I later got a chance to speak with them a bit and found out that they usually sing english celtic music which is totally cool to me, wish I could have heard some of that, but they already got in trouble apparently for singing 1 english song during the set I saw in the french pavilion, so I didn’t think I would get a chance to hear any celtic music. I talked to them for a while and ended up showing my photo album to them before saying goodbye(In case they do get a chance to visit my page here I just thought id give their band a little publicity. They call themselves VISION, and for anyone in southern Manitoba particularly who can see them perform, I strongly suggest you go see them).

Later that night after Mel’s performances were done we went back to Winnipeg and she took me to a party for people who volunteer for the pavilion that she danced at. The party starts after the last show is done for the night and then goes into the early morning. I started off having fun but as the night turns out I ended up leaving early...I picked up my stuff at Melissa’s place in the middle of the night with the intention to head home, I pulled over on the highway north of Winnipeg and slept the night away.
