The Rebels participated in two tournaments during 1999. The first
tournament of the year was in
Las Vegas
in February. Then the next tournament had the Rebels travelling to
Vancouver,
British Columbia, Canada for the first time during the summer of 1999.
This historic event marked the team's first play in an international
tournament.
Meanwhile, the 3-on-3
Winter
season ended with a 2-0-2 record to get to the .500 mark. The Rebels
turned the scoring machine up a notch through the
playoff
and the
championship
game.
The Spring
3-on-3 season had the Rebels win its first division title in the
reduced three team league. A playoff round bye proved not to be an
advantage in the
championship
game.
The Summer
of 1999 was the Rebels entry point into 5-on-5 league play at the
Ice Centre of San Jose. A 1-14-1 record does not make a
championship season but the Rebels learned a lot about how to play
co-ed ice hockey for the first time.
After taking the summer off for the Vancouver tournament, the
Fall
3-on-3 season had the Rebels winning its second division title while
setting offensive and defensive records. A possible second trophy
for the 1999 year was more than enough incentive to dominate the
championship
game.
The Winter 5-on-5
season ended with a 2-1-2 record in an effort for the team to hold
on to its .500 mark and place fifth in the division playoffs. The
Rebels' playoff
game was penalty filled as the team came up short in an attempt
to advance through to the next playoff round.
