"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 |
My name is Debi. And this is my niece, Christy. She is one of my cloest "friends". And I hope you enjoy yourself while visiting my web-site. I have been a caregiver for my mom and dad for about fourteen years. Until one day I had to place my last parent in the nursing home close by. Caregiving is a "different" world! One learns of many feelings that they didn't really know they had or even could have. Lesson's taught of love, compassion, fear, joy, laughter, pain, and even very "lonely" times. It gives a different perspective on life all together once you have walked in the shoes of a "caregiver". Watching your loved one perish away infront of your eyes is a very hurtful thing. And to realize there is nothing that you can do to help, is a pain that goes so deep within your being. My heart and prayer's goes out to all the caregivers out there. I love to write, and owe all my abilities to write to the Lord.... who has given me the words..... the eyes, the hands, the mind....... For I know "......without Him, I could do nothing!" (John 15:5) I have a wonderful husband and son. I am very greatful for their love and patience that gives me the time I need to myself to write the feelings that dwell so deep inside. I have shared some poem's and thought's and even Bible verses that has helped me in the past, during some really hard and stressful times. Also I have shared some of my articles that were writen in very humbling times, praying that if they could help just one person, it would be worth all the tears shed as each article was written. Please sign my guest book, and please leave your e-mail address? I will be adding things all through the month. |
LOOK AROUND YOU......BE A FRIEND! Any nursing home has it's list of patients that never receive a visitor.....the Rehabilitaion Center's, have many hearts that are looking for a hand to hold! The stroke victims....the shut ins, those in the hospital....the little child.....someone sitting next to you at a restaurant or next to you at church. When you come into contact with someone.....see someone so special that the SON OF THE LIVING GOD felt like dying for! ........Be a "friend"......just be there for them!!!!!! |
On Letting Go As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend, I brought my broken dreams to God, because He is my friend. But then instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone, I stayed around and tried to help, through ways that were my own. At last, I snatched them back and cried, "How could you be so slow?" "My child," He said, "What could I do? You never did let go." Anonymous |
An Alzheimer's Patient's Point Of View Dear Friend, Oh, how can this be You and I are losing me. Some day soon Maybe morning, Maybe noon I will no longer be the me You and I know as me. I ask, what is happening to me, And the answer seems to be Words and thoughts frequently scramble And my conversations seem to ramble. O, how can this be You and I are losing me. What do you see when you look into my eyes? And neighbors just to pry? Confusion, hurt, pity and pain, For I am ill and not insane. Oh Lord, help me pray, And this is what He seems to say, "Fear not child, I will come and take you home, To be with me for all eternity. What can we do from losing me? "Nothing' say the experts. But in my confused and foggy state, To you I plea, "Love me, Remember me Help me to be All that I can be For as long as I can be The me we know as me." (By Janis Hogan Aplin) |
A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones' chests would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would always light up with awe. But she never got a response to equal four year old David's. Gently he tucked the stethoscope in his ears and placed the disk over his heart. "Listen", she said, "What do you suppose that is?" He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap-tap-tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wonderful grin. "IS THAT JESUS KNOCKING?" he asked! |
GRACE is the hand of God coming down towards the sinner with the offer of Salvation. FAITH is the sinner's answer to that offer by accepting God's hand. |
