BAKER posted by Midge Garza on Saturday, February 8, 1997

One of my g-grandfather's brothers claimed he was born in Conyers. But his father went to Randolph Co., Alabama in 1832 and married his wife in 1848. However, he was from Georgia. But they remained in Randolph Co. as a family and none of their other children were born in Georgia, all Alabama. So i could not figure out why he claimed to have been born in Conyers...Since I have been trying to find my gg-grandfather's parents and siblings for many years, I have found some Bakers which he might have belonged to...however, had no luck. Until a connection I made via the Internet two years ago...I believe (there are too many coincidences for it not to be) I have found them, but can't prove it yet...anyway, this BAKER family was in Newton and Rockdale Counties...so now, I believe perhaps this son could have been born in Conyers, perhaps while the family was visiting relatives.Interestingly, my Joseph M. Baker b. 1816 in Georgia, apparently came to Alabama at the age of 15-16 (because his birthday was 20 Dec. I doubt he was 16 yet when he arrived in Randolph Co. in 1832)...but nowhere in the Historical Records of Randolph Co. by Barefield, does it mention his parents, although it mentions him...other than to say, "The Bakers came from Newton Co. Georgia." But he did come with a man whom I strongly believe was a relative...they went into business together in Roanoke.

REAGAN, WILSON posted by Virginia Phares on Thursday, October 22, 1998

My great grand father was William Keither WILSON. He was the son of George Washington WILSON. WK Wilson was married to Lettie lavinia Reagan Wilson. Her mother was Martha Virginia Frane REAGAN. I would like to have more names and dates to go with this info. Martha Virginia was five generations for me and I can remember her slightly. Perhaps she died about 1960. I know whe had many other children but the names have left over time. My guess is that they were part of a scotch irish group that came to conyers from Augusta around the time of the Civil War if not sooner. Any help would be appreciated. I know they are buried in conyers. Thanks

FLEMING posted by Richard M. Pope on Thursday, October 22, 1998

Daniel H. FLEMING was listed in the 1900 census as living in Rockdale County and in 1910 his widow, Nancy, was living in Newton County. So perhaps he died in Rockdale or Newton Counties. Can you check or refer me to someone who can, for a death record, cemetery record or even an obituary for this man?
