AKIN, FULLER, HANES posted by LuAnne Reed on Friday, January 7, 2000

Hello, I am searching for the name "Hanes". My G.G.G.Grandfather was Greenberry Hanes and my G.G.G. Grandmother was Malhala Hanes, I don't have a maiden name for her, yet. They lived in Henry co. Ga. before 1850, I believe they were farmers. Their children were all born in Cass county Tx. There names are: James J., Frances M., Martha J., Thomas W., S.E., Missouri Elizabeth(my G.G. Grandma), and J.M. It seems that Grennberry's Father was Joshua Hanes who was married to an Elizabeth Hanes, unk. maiden/ and one of Greenberry's brothers was James J. Hanes who was married to a Sara Hanes, maiden name also unk. Joshua may have had a sister named Theresa or Taracy Hanes, who later married a man by the name of Harrison Fuller. They too lived in Cass county Tx. in 1860 but all were born in Ga.

Trying to find the name of the father of Adam McVicker, whose son James A. McVicker came to Henry County in the 1830s, settling near present day Lovejoy. (Clayton County was created from this area later.) He married Mary Jane Nash in Abbeville,S.C. or Laurens Co.SC. Adam's wife's given name was Violet, and presumably she was born in ireland. James A. McVicker was my great-great grandfather on my mother, Leone McVicker's side of the family. The McVicker family cemetery is located on property that was at one time owned by the Hastings family of Hastings Seed fame.
