Someone please help us.

Something has happened to my adorable loving son.

John is completely flipping out lately. I guess we've finally hit the terrible twos? Max has been sleeping great lately, nursing only once, around 4am every morning. Of course now John can't sleep through the night for some reason.

He has been crying, loudly, about every little thing lately and right when it's time for a nap or bed, he completely loses it. He can't handle it when his cabbage patch kid is lying down incorrectly on the pillow. And last night he didn't want to see his pillow at all. He practically screams, "Oh no!" And cries and cries hiccupping.

He ended up sleeping on our floor after waking up at 3am. He didn't fall asleep the first time until after about an hour of crying. I help him for a minute and he was out. I used to wonder why he never got out of bed at night when he would wake up. Now he runs in our room yelling, "Oh no!"

I will have to look into it. I'm sure there's plenty to read on the subject.

On the other hand, Max has become a little daredevil climbing on everything and taking steps. He stood up in the middle of the room without pulling himself up on anything and took 2 steps yesterday. He's been climbing up on John's little table in the kitchen. He climbed on the chair and then the table, and then onto the big table a couple days ago. He won't stay off the stairs, either. Twice he has managed to climb upstairs without anyone knowing until he got up there. Ugh.

John goes to Vermont for an interview tomorrow. He didn't get an offer from Temple, which is fine. Now there's an opening at Penn State, though we're not sure of his chances. Of course that would be great. It's an Assistant AD job that includes compliance and some other duties concerning non-revenue sports. I think we may like Vermont. It would be the number one job, although the title is coordinator. The pay isn't that great and the houses are a bit pricey, but Vermont sounds nice, doesn't it?

I have finally decided to write to the pediatrician who saw John a couple times when we first moved here. I'm going to write to him and the group he's in. He was a total jerk. At his one year appointment, he asked if I was still nursing, I said yes, and then he asked if that was for my benefit or John's. Then at the next visit John was whimpering after being looked at and the doctor said he was milking it for all it was worth.

Ass.

My mom will be here next week and John is taking John to his mom's. Kari turns 32 tomorrow. I have a crafty gift that I started for her years ago and need to find it. I'm sure I can finish it easily. I also made her a mix CD and bought her a Mad Libs.

That was a fast month.

John got an offer from Vermont. He/we decided to pass. My mom came and went, my aunt Candy and cousin Hope visited, I started taking walks with Max in the morning, I finished my second series of Bradley classes, we celebrated our 5th anniversary, I tried a new kind of wax and made some candles.

John's twin bed is back in our room. After sleeping on the floor in his room for a few nights, John managed to work his way back into our room, first on the floor and then pretty much in our bed. Now his bed is next to ours. Again.

Max hasn't been sleeping too well the past couple nights, but I'm not sure why. He's walking more, but not too far. He's taking 5-10 steps with each attempt. He seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

John has applied to Wyoming, Missouri, and the MAC conference recently. He's had two calls from Wyoming, but they're taking resumes through the end of this week. He is going to Cleveland for an interview at the MAC office next week. Missouri is a number 3 position, but it pays well and Crystal lives there, and houses are reasonable.

Friday night we went to the Beacon for dinner and Kari and Tony watched the little guys. We took a bottle of wine that we bought in San Diego - 1997 Charles Cimicky Signature Shiraz. It was very good. It made me realize how long it's been since I've had really good wine. I called the day before to ask about doing some kind of little wine dinner and ended up just ordering an onion tart for an appetizer, like we had at our reception. We ordered an Alsace pinot blanc to go with it, like we had at our reception, too.

It was a very nice night. When we asked for the check, the waitress said someone had called and made arrangements to take care of it. It was Mark. That was a nice surprise.

I can't believe we've been married for 5 years. And have 2 kids. Wow.

I've been waiting to hear from Annie, my Bradley mom. Her due date was Thursday and she said she had contractions on and off Friday. I hope she calls when she thinks she's in labor and asks me to come over. She may have already had the baby, though, for all I know. I hope it goes well for her.
