RACHEL'S EX-FLAME VISITS HER AT SWEETWATER WITH TROUBLE IN TOW, WHILE LOU AND KID MAKE THE HARDEST DECISION OF THEIR LIVES...
A man argues with a beautiful lady in a restaurant and leaves her distraught. She, in turn, seeks solace from another man who witnessed the argument. It was merely a ploy. While the other man is distracted, the first man -- who is actually Rachel's ex-gambling partner, Roger -- steals counterfeit plates from his room. Roger hides them inside his daughter Daisy's teddy bear. The man, however, realizes the theft and goes after them, killing Roger's woman accomplice. Roger and Daisy escape and head for Sweetwater.
Lou asks for Jimmy's advice about Kid's increasingly possessive behavior.
Jimmy tells her he can't blame the Kid for being jealous and wanting Lou
for himself, ever since she began acting more like a woman. Kid see Lou
when she hugs Jimmy.
Roger and Daisy arrive in Sweetwater and ask if they could stay with Rachel for a few days. Roger implies that he is a changed man and may even be amenable to settling down. The man they stole the counterfeit plates from, however, is hot on their trail.
Kid buys an engagement ring for Lou and hides it under the mattress of his bunk before preparing for his run. He warns Jimmy to stay away from Lou while he is gone on a ride. The other riders also leave to trade some horses. While snooping around the bunkhouse, Daisy (whose nickname is Trouble) finds the ring and takes it. When Kid returns, he sees Jimmy with his arms around Lou. He also finds his ring gone. Kid goes after Jimmy and demands that he give the ring back. Jimmy, of course, has no idea what Kid is talking about and they exchange some mighty blows. Kid stunned when Daisy finally gives the ring back. Kid proposes to Lou, but she turns him down again. The timing wasn't right. They break up.
