IKE MEETS A MAN WHO MAY HAVE HELPED KILL HIS FAMILY...
Outside of Sweetwater, Ike comes across a wagon train in trouble. He lends a hand freeing one of the wagons stuck in some rocks. He recognizes the owner of the wagon as one of the Nicholson gang who murdered his family.
Meanwhile, sightings of a strange beast are frightening the town of Sweetwater.
Ike
returns to the waystation and pulls out some mementos from his childhood.
One of them includes a warrant for the arrest of the man he saw earlier.
Ike returns to the place where the wagons are camped. He attacks the man
but is stopped by Buck. Ike explains that he remembered the man from the
gang who murdered his father, mother, and sister. Ike had hidden in the
family's shed and had been spared.
They return to the waystation where Teaspoon tells Ike that he has to be sure it was the same man. He tells Ike he remembers the gang being tried in Fort Laramie. He offers to go to Laramie to get proof either way and reminds Ike that people can't take the law into their own hands.
The gang escapes from Fort Laramie and are in search of Ben Rawlings, the man from the wagon train. When they arrive at the camp, Rawlings lies to his wife and tells her he doesn't know them. They attack him and Ike arrives in time to save him. He is wounded and Ike offers to help out until Rawlings heals.
The other riders go in search of the mysterious beast. At the sight of a recent attack, Lou finds a strange footprint. When Norton, a famous buffalo hunter, goes after the beast the boys decide to hunt it as well.
Ike discovers his family Bible among Rawlings' possessions -- proof that he was indeed part of the Nicholson gang. The train decides to leave Rawlings behind and he becomes suspicious when he finds out Ike has been asking about him. Ike gets to know one of Rawlings' sons and Buck reminds Ike not to repeat the crime Rollins committed against his family.
Teaspoon arrives from Fort Laramie with the news that the Nicholson gang escaped. He and Buck go in search of Ike. Nicholson kidnaps Rawlings' wife and Rawlings and Ike go after them. Ike reveals that he knows Rawlings' real connection to Nicholson because Nicholson murdered his family. Rawlings tells Ike that he took the money the gang stole and gave it to a church. He also tells Ike that he will turn himself in after he knows his wife is safe. They rescue Molly but not before Rawlings saves Ike from Nicholson. Ike tells Teaspoon that Rawlings is not the man he was looking for.
