JIMMY HICKOK AND JAKE COULTER RACE TO CAPTURE A BANK ROBBER NAMED LON CHASE...

Cody was withdrawing his money when the bank was held up by a gang of robbers. Cody couldn't do anything and, together with the bank employees and the other customers, was bound before being left by the robbers. It turns out that this gang has been all over the Nebraska territory and has been targeting all banks. The gang leader, according to a wanted poster received by Teaspoon, is a man named Lon Chase. Teaspoon is suspicious, so he sends out Jimmy to "investigate."

When Jimmy finds Lon Chase, he sees an unassuming man with a love for numbers. Nothing about Chase says that he is a bank robber or even involved in a gang. Still, Jimmy's job is to take him in before other bounty hunters catch up. Enter Jake Coulter, Jimmy's nemesis. He is also after Chase. After a slightly funny cat and mouse game wherein Jake and Hickok struggle to outsmart each other and keep Chase with them, the two finally agree to work together. Chase convinces them that he is no bank robber, that he is an accountant who only stole the people's money so he could give it back to them. Chase told Hickok and Coulter that the Territorial Secretary, Bradley Davis, and several of his cronies have been bleeding the banks dry and that several robberies were staged to cover-up the theft.

Pretending to be Coulter, Hickok brings Chase to Walnut Creek where he is supposed to be picked up by Marshall Steiger, (who will be escorting Chase to his trial). After a while, the real Coulter then comes in, posing as Marshall Steiger. Before they managed to leave town, though, Davis's goons caught up with them and Hickok and Coulter were forced into gunfight. The talkative Chase turned out to be their savior when he stole behind the goons and got them to surrender. Things didn't end there, however, for the real Marshall Steiger arrived and everyone was arrested.

Things where settled in Walnut Creek and Marshall Steiger prepared to take Lon Chase to his trial. Before Lon left, Coulter -- having a change of heart -- gave the talkative accountant $100 from the reward money to "tide him over", proving he wasn't the heartless bounty hunter he possd to be.
