TEASPOON AND THE RIDERS RACE TO SAVE AMANDA FROM THE CLUTCHES OF A NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL...

A bank in Benton, Nebraska was robbed by a gang of masked men. The gang hide their loot in an old mine shaft but the leader -- a notorious criminal named Emory Pike -- proves to be traitorous. He blows up the mine with the men still inside. He returns to Benton and asks a jeweler to create a copy of the map he drew of the mine. When the jeweler is finished engraving the map on two halves of a gold coin, the gang leader kills him and then sets fire to his house. The jeweler's daughter sees the crime, calls the sheriff and has the thief arrested, but not before Pike sends off half of the coin to his brother.

Pike goes to trial and is sentenced to hang. The people of Benton don't want him hung though until he tells them where he hid the town's gold. On the day he was supposed to be hung, the scaffolding on the town's square is blown up. The governor orders that Pike be taken to Fort Laramie instead so the army can hang him. The governor sends a message to Sheriff Dooley to take Pike to Sweetwater and let Teaspoon take over the job of bringing him to Fort Laramie.

Meanwhile, Amanda O'Connel -- Teaspoon's adopted daughter -- meets one Mr. Turner, who seems to be very interested in her. But he turns out to be Emory Pike's brother and he kidnaps Amanda so he could exchange her for his brother

Teaspoon receives the orders and reluctantly enlists the riders' help. But before they leave, one of Pike's men (Redfern) gives Teaspoon the message about Amanda being kidnapped and the exchange. The simple task of bringing a criminal to justice becomes very personal to Teaspoon with his adopted daughter involved. He and the riders plan to separate into two groups, with one group (composed of Buck, Jimmy and Noah) taking Pike to Fort Laramie and the other group (composed of Kid, Cody and Teaspoon) attempting to rescue Amanda. Because of the need to keep the business of delivering mail alive, Lou and Ike are left behind.

Redfern takes Teaspoon and the riders to Frank but he had already left. He returned to his camp when he learned that Teaspoon didn't have Emory with him and his brother was about to be hung in Fort Laramie.
