GRAPHICS: The graphics in Brave Fencer Musashi aren't all that
bad. They are completly 3D, and have a few nice effects. Although
they are sometimes too polygonal, you get used to it after the first
few levels. But also, the low detail made the environment some what
bland.
SOUND: I'm going to have to say this was probably Brave Fencer
Musashi's greatest flaw. The music seemed too repetitive, and the sound
effects drove me insane, that is, the voice of all the characters. I
think it would have been a lot better if there hadn't been so many
annoying voices. Seriously, if you are going to play it and someone's
sleeping, they will wake up to the voice of a 10 year old.
STORYLINE: Not much to say about this one. I've heard many
places say this is Squaresoft's answer to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina
of Time, but I didn't think they were THIS serious! Brave Fencer
Musashi has one of those "Collect 'em all, kill the boss" storylines, in
which you collect five scrolls, kill some Crest Guardians, save the
princess, then go to the last level. Too many games have this
type of plot these days, when will they learn?
ADDICTIVE FACTOR: Suprisingly fun. May not be eye candy, but
this game still has some fun left in it. Not that addictive, considering
it's only one disk and 10-15 hours worth of gameplay.
FEATURES AND INNOVATION: Not many cool features, except the
fact that you get several abilities from enemies, and learn them
from scrolls. The way you get tired over time is a new feature, but
it's annoying. There wasn't much innovation at all in this one....
OVERALL: This is a tough one, there were some cool things, and
some not-so-cool things about this one. I was actually impressed. I was expecting less than what I got, but don't expect too much.
