Chrono Trigger review
GRAPHICS: The graphics in Chrono Trigger are very good for it's time. Since there is no way to compare FMV or 3D versus 2D on the Super Nintendo, we'll just say that the graphics are good, that's all there is to say about this one.

Note: If you have only played this on an emulator, you haven't played Chrono Trigger at it's best. The graphics on an emulator may be distorted at times where there are fancy effects.

SOUND: The music in Chrono Trigger was pretty good, and the sound effects were crisp. The music was the main thing that amazed me in the sound category. Well worth the listen.

Note: Like graphics, the sound effects may be strange at times.

STORYLINE: Chrono Trigger has a very unique storyline, and I liked it quite a bit. Traveling through time to kill an evil creature is neat because since you can change history, you can change the ending, so that adds more to the game.

ADDICTIVE FACTOR: Very addicting due to the fact that you can play the game from the start with your old file's experienced characters. This means there are endless ways to beat the game. You seem to be able to choose your path in this game occasionally, which can affect your outcome. Another addictive feature is the Technique system. I'd play the game for a while to just learn all the techniques. And finally, there are the mysterious black treasure boxes, pyramids (Hint, hint...), and doors that can't be accessed until later in the game, so there is another thing to come back for......

FEATURES AND INNOVATION: The battle system in Chrono Trigger is unique, even though it is found in some other games (I think). You can "see" your opponents, and when you engage in battle, the only thing that happens is a combat menu popping up, meaning the battle takes place on the very screen that you engaged battle in.... The technique system was also new, whenever multiple characters learn a technique, they can occasionally combine them into double, or even triple attacks. And one more thing I found interesting about the battle system was the fact that when it was one of your characters turns, and then another character was ready, you could easily switch from one character to another by simply scrolling left or right. I found that convienient.

OVERALL: This has been another one of my Squaresoft favorites. I can say it just plain ol' rules. If you liked Xenogears, and have missed out on this one, I must say you would adore this.
