Cloud Strife is a mercenary on a mission to destroy a Mako reactor that is sucking up the life of the Planet. Cloud later decides to continue to help save the life of the Planet so that he can find out more about the evil Shinra corporation, as well as his former Soldier partner Sephiroth.
The Shinra company runs Midgar, the large high tech city. Shinra has evil plans and uses Mako energy from the Planet for power, but are destroying the Planet in the process. Cloud will meet characters like Aeris, Tifa, and Barret to stop Shinra.
Cloud will eventually learn about his past and about a man named Sephiroth, a former member of Soldier.
