Basketball belt loops
Remember the belt loops are for the scout doing their best to learn about the sport or academic activity, and by putting the new techniques to practice with fellow scouts, in their community, or working with an adult. No specific requirements are usually listed in the booklets. The check list is only a guide.
To earn the belt loop:
_____1. Know the basic rules of basketball. (Cub Scout games are 4 six minute quarters with at least 3 minutes at half-time.)
_____2. Learn and practice the following dribbling skills:
__ high and low dribbling __ turntable dribble __ change of pace dribble __ combination dribble
_____3. Learn and practice the following passing skills:
__ chest pass __ bounce pass __ baseball pass
_____4. Learn and practice the following shooting skills:
__ set shot __ jump shot
_____5. Learn and practice rebounding.
_____6. Learn and practice offensive and defensive play. (For Cub scout tournaments, one-to one defense must be played. No zone defense.)
_____7. Practice with a team.
_____8. Play a game against another team.
_____9. Demonstrate good sportsmanship while participating in this sport.
I certify that ___________________________ has completed the minimum requirements to receive the belt loop.
