Geography belt loops
Remember the belt loops are for the scout doing their best to learn about the sport or academic activity, and by putting the new techniques to practice with fellow scouts, in their community, or working with an adult. No specific requirements are usually listed in the booklets. The check list is only a guide.
To earn the belt loop:
_____1. Know what"cartography" means.
_____2. Using a globe point out the following:
__ latitude and longitude lines __ hemispheres __ seven continents __ four oceans
_____3. Using a map list the countries of the western hemisphere and what part of the "Americas" they belong (North, Central or South).
_____4. Know what "climate" means and describe the climate where you live.
_____5. Draw a map of the United States. Identify your state.
_____6. Draw a map of your state. Identify major cities, rivers, lakes, mountains, and national and state parks.
_____7. "Do your best" while participating in this scholastic activity.
I certify that __________________ has completed the minimum requirements to receive the belt loop.
