Bicycling

Remember the belt loops are for the scout doing their best to learn about the sport or academic activity, and by putting the new techniques to practice with fellow scouts, in their community, or working with an adult. No specific requirements are usually listed in the booklets. The check list is only a guide.

To earn the belt loop:

_____1. Learn the different parts of your bike and how to adjust and service them.

_____2. Determine whether your bike fits you properly.

_____3. Learn the bicycle laws for our state.

_____4. Know and practice safe bicycling.

_____5. Wear a bicycle helmet.

_____6. If you do not know how to ride a bike, learn.

_____7. Explain how to ride in traffic.

_____8. Demonstrate proper hand signals.

_____9. Know the proper way to carry packages on your bike.

_____10. Take a bicycle hike with your adult teammate.

_____11. Demonstrate good sportsmanship while participating in this sport.
