Quilts from the New York Sewer!

January - March 2001

Double Nine Patch

Double Nine Patch with Hearts I made this quilt in 2001. I started it in January, and I finished the top in March. I machine pieced the double nine patch blocks, which are set on point. I hand appliqued the 16 hearts. the blocks are 11.25 inches. the borders are small, 1.5 and 1.75 inches. The quilt top measures 86 inches square.

This quilt is for Tighe, and he is very excited about it. I would have liked to hand quilt it, but he wants it ASAP. So I am going to tie this quilt. That's fine, I have a bunch of other quilts I want to make!!

Double nine patchUpdate: After being in the middle of my living room floor for about a week, making the dog miserable (Don't step on that quilt!!!!), I finished tying this quilt. I used DMC size 10 Cebelia crochet cotton and a doll needle, and tied it every 4 inches. I used Polyfil exra loft batting. I bound the quilt with the same red fabric. (well, it was a different dye-lot, but no-one can tell!) It goes very nicely in my red-white-and-blue bedroom.
