Jacobean Applique Wall Hanging Quilt

QuiltThis wall hanging is a birthday present. Is is from Jacobean Applique, by Campbell and Ayers. I love this style, just as I love reading about that period of history. The authors actually use needle-turn hand applique to create their quilts, but I used the fusible technique, and I zig-zagged around the pieces with invisible nylon. I added top and bottom borders, then simply layered the top, back and batting, stitched 3 sides, turned right sides out, and quilted. I quilted around the applique, and in the seams of the borders. To finish the top, as well as to prepare for hanging, I created a rod pocket with a very fat binding (using 5 inch strips). I got a dowel to fit the slit - this makes the piece hang straight, and hand stitched some picture hanging rings onto the back.

Please note that the book I have is The Best of Jacobean Applique, which comprises patterns from the books "Exotica" and "Romantica", in the Jacobean series. I cannot find a link for you for this book. This pattern in particular is originally from the Exotica series, so if you must have this pattern, look for that book. All the patterns are beautiful, and if you like this style of artwork, I think you will be pleased with any of the Jacobean Applique books by Campbell and Myers.
