Autumnal Table Runner

Autumn Table Runner I am taking a break from Christmas quilts to enjoy making some autumn inspired projects. This is a table runner that uses the autumnal fabrics that I have been collecting. It is machine pieced, and machine appliqued using fusible webbing.

I machine quilted this quilt. I did some in-the ditch or crack-stitching around the pieced stars, and some cross hatching. I stippled the entire border and around the appliques. I used Hobbs Heirloom Cotton batting, and YLI Select thread to quilt it. It actually came out really good! You may have heard I am really bad at machine quilting, but maybe after a few successes like this one and I won't be able to say that any more.

The pattern is from a magazine - I am almost positive is is McCalls Quick Quilts, but I will have to get back to you on that, along with the issue number. I changed it very slightly, I added a couple other appliques, but they were from another project in the same magazine, so if you like my changes, you will be able to do the same!

Autumn Table RunnerHere is the block, they are all the same block, but with different fabrics.

Autumn Table RunnerHere is the border. The skinny border is free motion quilted with a cable, not perfectly, but still pretty nice. The outer border is appliqued and stippled.

Autumn Table RunnerHere you can see the blanket stitching that secures the appliques. Perhaps you can see the stippling, but perhaps not - my thread blends beautifully with the fabric.

What is my finger doing there you say? I am showing you the flat piping which is inserted in the binding.

The backing fabric is the same as the outer border and binding.
