Flying Geese a L'Orange avec Cranberries
The decision to make blue geese on a cranberry sky as opposed to cranberry geese on a blue sky was a hard one - and just because the logical choice is blue for a sky didn't help, because logic dictates that there are no cranberry geese. I decided on this combination though, and even now when I look back on my drawings, and I think it looks fine either way!!! I am using the Eleanor Burns method of quickly making 4 flying geese blocks with 2 larges squares, and her "flying geese ruler". I think this is a great way to make a bunch of geese! If you only need a few geese though, and are limited on fabric, knowing the traditional way is a necessity. This quilt is in the works as of this writing, August 4th, but is quickly moving along. I have not decided on how to quilt this quilt yet. Yahoo! I finished this quilt top August 15th, 2001! I am planning to machine quilt it, but I am waiting for my new sewing machine! Update: I got a new Brother PQ-1500 sewing machine, which is great for quilters. It makes machine quilting so much easier. I free-motion quilted this entire quilt: stippling in the vertical sashing, echo quilting in the geese, and a chevron design in the border. I used a light polyester batting - Mountain Mist Quilt Lite. I machine bound the quilt in the cranberry fabric. Here is the quilting.........
