Strawberry Quilt

QuiltThis is another Christmas present! Is is from Quilt Sampler Magazine, from the Summer of 2001. It is the quilt on the cover! I really fell in love with this quilt, and I think the recipient will like it too. I collected various pinks to make the stars. I am still in the process of making this quilt, so look for updates!

QuiltHere are some of the appliques. I prepared the pieces by making templates from heat resistantmaterial, and starched the seam allowances in place. Then I top stitched the pieces in place with matching thread.

QuiltFor the circles, I actually appliqued them onto the triangles before I appliqued the triangles onto the quilt - it is easy to handle smaller pieces. That's not to say that appliqueing the rest is difficult - I only had to handle an eight in strip, then once it was done, I sewed the appliqued rows to the pieced rows.

Quilt This picture shows the strawberries, or flowers, or whatever they are!! I thought they were supposed to be strawberries, so i picked fabric like this, but in the instructions they are called flowers. It doesn't matter, they can be interpreted either way. This one is one of my favorites, since the ants are really cute.
