CSA UPDATE: New- Call to
Power! posted by CivPartisan at Fri,

Check out the new Call to Power page here! Activision was fortunate enough
to get a short-lived license on the Civilization series. The
activision team endeavored to improve on the series
and set out to produce a whole new gaming experience.
Erasing and eliminating the familiar interface of the
Microprose series, Activision produced a different style of
Civilization that focused much more on the
micromanagement of cities and population. Thus, it
is much more difficult to play far enough to
get future technologies. This may have stifled the
initial success of CTP, but didn't stop Activision from
improving upon their work and relesoing Call to Power
II.
However, you will see many CTP influences
presented in the suceeding Civilization III, which was a huge
success. This is probably because Firaxis solicited ideas from
such a wide range of Civ players and no doubt some of the good
from CTP had to be part of the future of such a great
series.

ARCHIVES UPDATED!!!

- First off, special thanks to Fernando, who alerted me
to the fact that I had uploaded this page under the wrong
file name. For those who have been checking the site
regularly, I can't say sorry enough for being a nit. My only
excuse is that during the big computer crash, I temporarily
lost my mind in an effort to keep up with a few updates. As
near as I can figure, you probably saw everything up to
March, and then got the old page as the front end after
that. I wondered why the site hits were
down...
-
- On the upside though, and, as you might have
guessed-- I've added a bigger hard drive and I am hard at
work again. I was hoping that by this time the whole section
on the right would be finished but at least it's moving
forward again. I want to remind visitors that they are more
than welcome to send screenshots, cheats and
information or even programs for posting again. Your
contribution will be featured here on the front page
so it's a great opportunity to get exposure. Check
out the new Test of
Time page here.
For those who missed out on the NEW
HALLOWEEN UNITS, look below and get caught up

- Sorry
for the long wait for news and updates as I know you are
excited to see something new here. Well, so am I. Last year,
I created the Turkey Elite Units to celebrate the holidays.
This year, I've decided to put together a few Halloween
Units that you may want to fiddle with. I currently do not
have plans for a Halloween scenario this year but maybe next
year. Check out these cool units
here!

Download by using
right-click and selecting save
as.
I have also included a
recommended rules.txt change for each unit - just to get you
started! Just click the icon to
download

Also, I am up and running an older computer
that I had in the closet. I just need to upgrade the hard
drive to start working on the CSC section.

- CPH Development takes a
hit!

I am coming at you live today from a trusty laptop
that I use for school. Unfortunately, CPH will be on hold
until I can get the main computer back online. turns out
that the power supply went out and took my motherboard
with it. The good news is that I can still post, but the
Civilization Archives will not get any updates until I can
get another computer. This is not due to any financial
strain but the shear logistics. The main computer for
the creation of this site performs other business functions
as well- that means that a lot of work is in store for
me to load data and programs onto a new computer
first. As much as I love civ like all of
you, work before pleasure prevails. In the
meantime, I will keep updating the links section- there are
more than enough links to keep everyone busy for a lifetime
anyway!
Cheers!

Opportunities for New Civilization Games Still Exist
...

- Its the day after spring, so I thought I would bring
to your attention some of the opportunities that you might
look into for programming civ games. We've all seen Civ
on SNES and Playstation-
there is even a version for cell phones. You would think
that just about everything has already been done
right?

- Well, the truth is, there are
still loads of devices out there that could use civ on them.
Cruising around the net, I noticed that there were folks out
there still programming games for Sega
Saturn and the Atari
2600. There are small number of people
still using BeOS on their computers and they are always
looking for new downloads here. I should also mention that
there are a large number of classic gamers who are
enjoying high quality homebrewed Nintendo these days
like this 8-bit version of Grand Theft Auto III as
grandtheftendo!-

- Largely, this is due to the
introduction of a new version of the Nintendo game by a
company called Famico (operating under the brand name Yobo).
I should also mention that Sid
Meier's Pirates! is already ported to Nintendo.
Production of a civ for the Nintendo console is long
overdue. You don't have to worry about getting
your civ burned onto a cartridge for console play- a
number fans have their ways ;) and there are many emulators
such as Kega
(also known as Fusion) out there for play anyway. So,
just when you thought there might not be room for just one
more Civiliztion game- guess again...there just might be a
chance you'll see Civ on your
wristwatch...

CPH is expanding and continues to

You can look forward to more site construction
in the future, but at the same time I will be slowing a bit
on the news. This is mostly due to placing a higher priority
on the Civilization Archives and getting the beta pages up.
For most visitors this means added usefulness and more links
to
navigate!
Stay tuned for more
later.
