ANTARCTICA 2.0 Released
posted by CivPartisan at Fri, 25, July 2008 11:30:15

If you like Civilization II scenarios, then you've come to the right website today! I've released an updated scenario that I produced seven years when Civilization II was at its zennith of game play. Here's some more about the scenario:

I've always been fascinated with pioneer exploration. Anarctica is one of the last known frontiers left on our planet, and it's potential is awesome. It is an isolated continent, and that in itself makes it scarry. Imagine going to a place where seven months out of the year it pitch black, three months of twilight, and only two months of dull sunlight that is enough to blind you in the icy wastes of a glacier plain. Now, try to survive!

Just click the title graphic to download or click here!

Check back regularly from now on, as new scenarios are expected to be hosted here at CPH. You can look forward to the release of two preview scenenarios in the coming weeks as well as a few updated re-releases.

Mercator's Legacy: MapEdit 2.1
posted by CivPartisan at Mon, 14, July 2008 02:13:02

FEATURED WEBSITE TODAY is Mercator's Civilization 2 Site. I make particular note of Mercator's work because he is best known for his program MapEdit 2.1 which is a versatile map editor for Civilization II. At a time when people like myself were going blind trying to make maps with the very limited editor in Civ II, Mercator was reaching beyond the limits of modding and produced a program that "...can convert Civ2 maps to bitmaps and vice versa, import maps from any Civ2 savegame or scenario, create maps with a surface larger than 10,000 (up to 32,767)..." and more. All this he did for FREE JUST FOR YOU! Pay Mercator's site a visit and support the roots of the Civilization community today!

The links page has been updated with new links and the removal of some dead ones. Links for the Civilization Series Archive are under construction. You need not email me to discuss these beta pages yet as they are still being produced. Have no fear, that little animated Civ Partisan is in charge.

A NEW LOOK FOR CPH!
posted by CivPartisan at Tue, 01, July 2008 12:02:25

Can you believe it! CPH has recently broke the 40k visitors mark and growth has merited a complete change in the way the site looks. This is so that the site loads faster and is more convenient to find links. There are now two menu columns at the right which have been trimmed of outdated links to be more straight forward. As you can see, I've been working hard to get pages up and links attended to...

Links are no longer underlined in menus except in the main text. I've settled on fewer background graphics, but the colors of the site are more pleasing to view now. Currently, the site is optomized for IE 6.0; if there are issues with 7.0 please drop me a line. Site displays reasonably well in Opera 9.20 but I have yet to test it in FireFox.

Inaugurating this special event is our very own animated partisan.

CSA UPDATE: New- Call to Power!

posted by CivPartisan at Fri, 15, February 2008 2:24:32

Check out the new Call to Power page here! Activision was fortunate enough to get a short-lived license on the Civilization series. The activision team endeavored to improve on the series and set out to produce a whole new gaming experience. Erasing and eliminating the familiar interface of the Microprose series, Activision produced a different style of Civilization that focused much more on the micromanagement of cities and population. Thus, it is much more difficult to play far enough to get future technologies. This may have stifled the initial success of CTP, but didn't stop Activision from improving upon their work and relesoing Call to Power II.

However, you will see many CTP influences presented in the suceeding Civilization III, which was a huge success. This is probably because Firaxis solicited ideas from such a wide range of Civ players and no doubt some of the good from CTP had to be part of the future of such a great series.

Civilization ARCHIVES UPDATED!!!
posted by CivPartisan at Fri, 11, January 2008 12:41:20

First off, special thanks to Fernando, who alerted me to the fact that I had uploaded this page under the wrong file name. For those who have been checking the site regularly, I can't say sorry enough for being a nit. My only excuse is that during the big computer crash, I temporarily lost my mind in an effort to keep up with a few updates. As near as I can figure, you probably saw everything up to March, and then got the old page as the front end after that. I wondered why the site hits were down...
On the upside though, and, as you might have guessed-- I've added a bigger hard drive and I am hard at work again. I was hoping that by this time the whole section on the right would be finished but at least it's moving forward again. I want to remind visitors that they are more than welcome to send screenshots, cheats and information or even programs for posting again. Your contribution will be featured here on the front page so it's a great opportunity to get exposure. Check out the new Test of Time page here.

For those who missed out on the NEW HALLOWEEN UNITS, look below and get caught up on the news!!
