I have had such a wonderful summer that it's been very difficult to sit down and put it into words. My activity level has increased since I have improved upon my energy and stamina. I played a major role in painting our house as well a helping my brothers add a new roof to our family cabin in the mountains. I have played golf at least twice a week all spring and summer including the participation in two tournaments. My wife and I worked very hard at getting our yard into shape and maintaining it. I have continued to participate with my dog Quake in obedience school. This by the way now includes giving demonstrations in classes that we are enrolled in and for additional classes that we assist in.
I went to a college football game this past weekend with my good friend Randy and his wife. It was a huge breakthrough for me. Since I had not gone to a game at Husky stadium since the late eighties, I was not sure if I would be able to do it. But I had confidence in Randy's judgment and he did not disappoint. We went to the game via a Husky party boat. We docked at the waterfront at the base of the stadium and walked all the way up to the stadium gate. This was a good little hike in and of itself for me. I was feeling stressed and very nervous because I had no idea what I was in for or what my body could handle. At the stadium gate Randy asked me if I wanted to take the elevator or walk up to the second tier. I thought briefly and decided to walk it. A decision Randy responded to with “good for you.” We got to the seats and enjoyed the game while sitting in scorching hot sun. It must have been a record that day because it doesn't usually hit the mid eighties in late September here in Washington State.
The bottom line is that I made it without much of a problem and feel confident that I can do it anytime from here on out. I attribute the game of golf for giving me the stamina and confidence to even try such an endeavor. I thank my friend Randy and his wife Courtney for their friendship and support and for giving me the opportunity to advance in my comeback effort to reclaim my life. This was probably the biggest and most significant breakthrough physically for me to this point in time. Randy and I play golf together every week, as does my brother Lou. We all had a part in this day guys, thanks and I love you both.
I also need to thank my biggest supporter, my wife Shawna. Without her love, devotion and support I really doubt I'd be taking a breath on Gods green earth today. She inspired me to write today when she showed me some pictures that she found this morning. They were of me back when I weighed 700 pounds. It's hard to believe that it was me! She told me how proud of me she was and reminded me that all of my hard work shows and is paying off.
I have a lot more to write about especially concerning the changes in my eating plan and strategy, as well as some heavyhearted losses that have recently occurred.
