Back to Journal Page

Last weeks golf match went well. My goal for the day was to reach at least one green in regulation. The second time through the course I was able to focus and hit a good tee shot on the seventh hole (14th on the day) that landed right on the front edge of the green. I two putted for par, and felt good about reaching my goal. This week, weather permitting, I will try to land two tee shots onto the green.

I have been counting calories and doing a good job of staying below 4000 a day. In fact, most days I am below 3000 calories. It's hard for me to eat that many calories because my activity level has been on a constant rise. I don't think about food as often, plus I only eat when I am hungry. The fact that I have been on a constant mission to find nutritious foods that are low in fat, calories, and sodium also helps keep my intake of calories down. I fill up on salad at every meal except breakfast.

I have been doing a good job sticking with my fitness program. Swimming and golf have been the most consistent cardio activities. It's been hard to fit weight training into the mix. I am going to dog class twice a week, swimming twice a week; I play golf once a week and practice at least three times a week in addition. I am doing more around the house by grocery shopping, yard work, laundry, dishes, and trash detail. I am usually too tired or too busy to fit the weight lifting in. But, I am determined to work it in and will give more effort toward doing so. This month I will focus on getting the Bow Flex back in motion twice a week.
