Back to Journal Page

Today I worked out and walked down the beach with Quake for his swimming lesson. Yesterday I drove to Quakes obedience school and there was a hale storm. Kind of freaked me out at first since it piled up on the road and made things a bit slick. I got through it though, since we drove past the storm and things dried up and the road was fine. I also took Shawna to work and drove back to pick her up.
I will drive myself to my appointment at Harbor View tomorrow for the first time. Not bad, I have gone from a guy that had to be driven to my appointments there and then wheel chaired up to the appointment. Using a special extra big wheelchair. It was humiliating for me to not have control of my situation and the looks people gave me as they gawked at my fatness made me feel like a freak. Now, just three months later I am driving myself and walking to the appointment myself. It's a huge breakthrough for me and I am proud of myself for staying on track and getting my independence back. I have been testing my blood sugars the past two weeks, and in the second week, by Doctors orders, I cut one of my meds (gemfibrozil) in half and eliminated Lipitor completely. My blood sugars have not changed since changing my dosages and are right around 100 every time. My Doctor said that Lipitor makes people retain fluid. So this will help me get rid of more edema. The swelling in my legs is going down and my stamina is getting better.
