Often times when a person that is pursuing a weight loss goal engages in conversation with friends, family, doctors, etc... the conversation may turn to motivation and what you are loosing the weight for. You might say for instance “I am loosing this weight for my friends and family so they won't need to worry about me as much”. The standard response to this type of statement is “you should be doing this for yourself first.” Well, DUH! First, I know that people think they are being helpful and caring by making that statement. I thank anyone who may have said that to me or anyone else with a weight problem. But motivation is an all-powerful thing. If you have a reason to do something in life. Don't let anyone tell you what your motivation should be. Whatever drives you to reach your goal the most, is your ticket. Because wanting it is 90% of the battle. If someone convinces you to change your motivational focus because they think the reason they want you to have for reaching your goal is better. More than likely, you will be weaker when making choices during the day. What you want for yourself is the most important element in attaining any goal you may have for yourself in life. Nobody else knows you, and what drives you, more than you. Listen to your inner fire and follow your dreams and if you want it bad enough you'll get there regardless of how long it takes. If you don't understand what that means, then you don't want your goal bad enough yet!
