Back to Journal Page

It's been a couple weeks since my last post. I don't always find the time to do it even though I think about it often. Tomorrow I will weigh in at my appointment with Dr Wisse. My Physical Therapy is going well, I am walking for 20 minutes now, but at a much faster pace. My legs are getting stronger and as a result my knee pain is not as frequent.

I have been mowing the lawn once a week and taking at least one short shopping trip a week. Actually I have been taking two or three trips to the store a week. I am able to do more at Quakes obedience classes too. It's nice to be able to help out by placing the fixtures we use for drills onto the floor and put them back when we finish a drill. The teacher is grateful for the help, and she told Shawna how great it is that I have done so well with my weight loss. She said, boy it really shows, we all can see that he's doing much better. Also, Quake has turned the corner and become one of the better dogs in the class. I think my participation has made a difference in his learning curve.

We are getting ready for the 4th of July bash we hold every year and I am able to do a lot more to help set things up than in past years. All of my progress has helped ease the overwhelming burden that was placed on Shawna in the past. She is appreciating my help in everyday life and grateful for my success. She tells me how great I am looking and that I just have a much healthier look about me. She is proud of me again, and it means a lot to me to know that she is happier in life.

I heard a quote from a commencement speech a few weeks ago that has inspired me “ Failure is no more a permanent situation than success”. So I guess we all just need to keep at it and strive for success and not let our failures keep us from continuing the journey and pursuit of a healthy and happy life. Thank you Senator John McCain! The bear in me is surfacing, look out world, I don't think you are ready for me!
