July, 23, 2003
It's rather ironic that my last post was exactly one month ago today and I wish I could have made time to do it earlier. But, life has been on the fast track lately. I have been playing as much golf as time and money will permit. My wife and I worked very hard in late June and early July getting our house and yard in shape for our annual July 4th party. We planted lots of flowers, hauled debris, cleared the beach of logs and the various potpourri that washes up every day.
The 4th of July was a lot of fun. I drank and ate what I wanted and it was good to see family and friends. Everyone was very complimentary about shawna's and my own weight loss. It made us feel good and gave us inspiration to continue with this journey.
I weighed in on the 16 of July and was down another 12 pounds. I was a little disappointed but realized that my partying over the 4th and some of the other activities my wife and I did during her two-week vacation, contributed to that disappointment. We went to the new casino in town one night and ate a late night dinner at their wonderful buffet. It was a complimentary gift and the buffet usually costs $17.95 each. We splurged along the way during her time too. We would get latte's at Starbucks and stopped off for salmon chowder and ice cream cones on a couple of our flower runs to the nursery in a quaint little town up north in farm country. It was enjoyable and we had fun spending time together. I have lost a total of 155 pounds now and that's nothing to get down about.
