A House Divided
In The Presence Of Mine Enemies Till Death Do Us Part (Part One) Till Death Do Us Part (Part Two) |
Blood Of Others JIMMY HICKOK FINDS HIMSELF FACE TO FACE WITH A POSSIBLE FUTURE... The notorious criminal Elias Mills is captured by Teaspoon and the riders.
The governor orders the Marshall to take the captive to Fort Laramie for
hanging, but Teaspoon -- who is nursing a very painful toe infection --
passes the job to Jimmy, the Kid and Cody. Lou hears Cody complaining and
volunteers to take his place. Teaspoon tries to dissuade her but Lou insists.
Teaspoon finally agrees after Lou points out that she shouldn't be treated
any different than the other riders. The trio and their captive ride for Fort Laramie. Hickok wonders why Mills -- who supposedly killed a sheriff and two of his deputies -- isn't even trying to escape. Lou admonishes Jimmy. Mills thanks her and calls her "ma'am." Lou is surprised that her disguise didn't work with the man. Mills tells her things aren't always what they appear to be. Later, when the riders find the trail washed out, Elias points them to the right direction. On the way, the group encounters two thieves. They were able to kill one but the other got away, leaving Kid wounded. Jimmy and Lou decide to leave the Kid behind so he can make his way back to Sweetwater to get his wound treated. The riders become increasingly confused with Elias Mills' heroic behavior after he saves Lou from a poisonous snake, and then saves Hickok from the thief they encountered earlier. Mills also tells them that the two deputies he is accused of killing were horse thieves who wanted him to hang in their place. The sheriff was an unfortunately casualty of the gunfight.
Hickok is disturbed by Mills. He sees in the prisoner a mirror of himself. Lou tries to comfort Hickok and their intimate conversations lead to an even more intimate kiss initiated by Jimmy. The "tender moment" is interrupted when the former sheriff arrives to forcibly take Elias Mills. Mills escapes while Jimmy and Lou take on the former sheriff. The two riders find Mills watching a young woman. He tells them she is his daughter. He asks the riders for a favor, that they give the young woman a locket bearing a key to bank's safety deposit box where Mills money are hidden. Hickok makes Mills face his daughter. FROM THE STATIONMISTRESS: This is one of my favorite episodes, although I'm not very satisified with the ending. So, I wrote a sequel of sorts, additional scenes to give this episode some closure. The story, called One Fleeting Moment, can be found at the PONY TALES section of this website. Previous || Next || Days Of Our Lives || Feedback |
