BUCK BATTLES A DARK SPIRIT TO SAVE THE WOMAN HE LOVED...

A young couple passes by an Indian burial ground in the middle of the night. They are stopped by masked Indians, but lightning and thunder spook their horses and the young couple's wagon runs over one of the Indians. The woman falls out of the wagon at the same moment that the Indian dies. The man stops and carries the woman back into the wagon and flees the place.

In Rock Creek, Buck is spending too much time in front of the mirror, to the amusement of his friends. He is taking extra care with his appearance because his childhood friend, Camille, is arriving with her fiancee, Bill Barlow. Camille is white but was adopted by the Kiowa when she was very young. Camille and Bill arrive (they are the young couple in the first scene) and there is an immediate tension between Buck and Bill. Still, Buck invites them to stay for dinner. While eating, Camille passes out. She starts talking in her sleep, uttering Indian words that she shouldn't have known. Buck becomes disturbed and seeks Teaspoon's help but the older man could offer no words of advice.

An old Indian offers his help -- for $50. Buck reluctantly agrees after the old man tells him Camille's soul is being stolen by the evil spirit, Kode Hete. Indian Bob tells Buck he can take him and Camille to a great medicine man called White Feather. When Bill returns, his fiancee is nowhere in sight. He promptly rides to the bunkhouse only to find Buck gone, too. Teaspoon sends Kid, Lou and Noah to go with him and find Buck and Camille.

Meanwhile, Buck, Indian Bob and Camille's trip to Thunder Mesa (home of White Feather) is turning out to be a very strange one. First, they manage to jump across a huge chasm. Then Camille wakes up and stands in the way of rampaging horses. Later, Buck sees Camille try to kill Indian Bob. When they finally get to Thunder Mesa, Indian Bob tells Buck the story of two sons of a chief who lived thousands of years ago. The eldest is good, the youngest is bad. The younger son kills his brother but the chief gives his oldest son power to do eternal battle with his evil son. Indian Bob believes the evil son -- who was trapped under the earth -- has escaped and entered Camille's body.

Several hours away from the trio are Kid, Lou, Noah and Bill. When they encounter a group of Indians, Bill is forced to tell the riders that he and Camille passed by holy ground and accidentally killed a medicine man.

Indian Bob asks Buck why he is trying to save Camille and he answers that he loves her... and owes her. Apparently, when they were kids they were chosen to wed. But one day, Buck participated in a hunt and when he came back, all the women and children of his camp were dead and Camille was gone. She was taken by buffalo hunters because she was white and taken back to "her people". Buck never forgave himself for that.

That night, Indian Bob ties Camille inside a teepee and performs some kind of ritual. The elderly Indian calls on the spirit of Kode Hete and Camille answers in a strange voice (kinda like Darth Vader). Buck realizes Indian Bob is actually the good brother in the legends. When he leaves, the teepee catches fire and Camille and Buck scamper to safety. Camille attacks Buck and he falls unconscious. When he comes to, he sees the spirit of Kode Hete leave Camille's body and they do battle together. Buck wins with the help of some good magic.

As Buck and Camille leave Thunder Mesa, Billy and the riders arrive. Billy reluctantly thanks Buck for taking care of Camille. On the way back to Rock Creek, Billy asks the riders help to bury the Indian they accidentally killed. When Buck lifts the man's mask, he sees Indian Bob and realizes that the old man is actually the medicine man White Feather.
