Today was pretty nice! I begged mom to let me go shopping. She did! It was pretty fun. I drove us all over. At the mall, I got a bunch of neat clothes. I wanted some clogs, but I couldn't find any that were just right. I only got one letter in the mail. We ate at Pepe' Taco. I had four. We had chili for supper. I watched Mork & Mindy; a repeat. I looked some of me, Mike & Bob's baby stuff. It's fun! Time to watch SOAP.

that fox, Kenny Radleyhi: 38, low: 32

Today was fine. Darcy gave me an overgrown crayon candle and some shrunken pencils! In P.U. I finally got to dance with a cute guy: Kenny Radley. I drove home. After supper, I drove up to the self serve station by lake of the woods & back home in the dark. I did good. I'm nervous about my driving test I gotta take tomarrow! What if I do something stupid & don't pass it? I sure hope Prunella waits till Sunday to come! No doubt she'll come tomarrow and ruin my sweet 16th birthday. I think I'll go to bed early so I can get plenty of sleep so I don't fall asleep tomarrow.

Saturday March 3, 1979 (I'm sweet 16 today!)

Julie's 16th birthdayThis day was absolutely fantastic! I woke up about 6 with horrible nerves. At 8, we were at the examining station. I had a pretty long wait, then I took my test! The rain was messy, but I PASSED!! I had my picture taken, boy is it funny, and in 5 minutes, I got my license! We drove to Venture and I got some stuff. At home, I called Stacey and she came over. We played stuff. Later, we picked up Cathy, and met the others at Shakey's. Almost everyone was there. They gave me the exact same album Stacey gave me. They gave me the receipt so I can take it back, too. It was alot of fun. We played alot of pin-ball and I got a birthday hat. On the way home, there was so much fog we couldn't see the road. I thought we were gonna croak. But somehow, we managed to get home! Stacey and I celebrated a bit.

Do you beleive I have my license, finally?!!!!!!! I find it very hard to beleive. Makes me feel pretty aaaaaaaaaaaa-dult!! Ya know what I mean? But, I can't wait till they finally let me drive all alone. I'm able to now that I have it, but they (meaning mainly my father) won't let me yet. But I won't protest, cuz I'm just happy to be 16. Big one six, folks, that's right!! The test wasn't hard at all. The guy said I passed with flying colors! He didn't even ask me which way to put the wheels when parking on a down-and/or up-grade. I just drove around a bit, which included an easy turn-about. This has been the best and most exciting, and also most memorable birthday I've ever had!!

Sunday March 4, 1979

For the most part, today was good. I woke up plenty earlier than I wanted to though. Me and Stacey played a few games after breakfast. I drove her home (with Dad in the back seat, of course!) Then when I got home, he let me drive around the block once by myself. It was great! I made tacos, and worked on my rug. Then, I begged dad to let me do it again (go around the block). He did and I did. As I was backing out of the drive I almost ran into Cathy (literally), who was driving her sister's car. I waved then proceeded to follow her up to the Salvation Army Camp. But I turned around in Morretto's drive and came back home. A while after I got home, I received a strange phone call from Ms. Lisa "Pot-head." I know it was her, cause I know her voice. After I answered, she screamed, "S.O.B." (only she said the whole thing) at me and hung up. My deduction is, she must have seen me driving around by myself and she is jealous cause I'm such a good person, and she turned out to be such a dope head. I talked on the horn to Stacey for awhile. Took a nice warm bath. Watched All in the Family's 200th episode celebration. I'm getting pretty far on my rug.

Well, gotta split!

Monday March 5, 1979

Today was average. At prison, I showed everyone who hadn't seen it already my license. In fart, we painted with water colors. In Chilli town, I traded in the album the gang bought me for a Billy Joel tape. It's a real good one! When I got home, I asked ma if I could cruise the neighbor-hood. She let me. I made sure I went right by the kids getting off the bus, including the Pot-head who was back at school today. I finally gave S.B., Stacy's address. I wrote to him & asked him to write me. I worked alot on my Snoopy rug. Uncle Cow & Aunt Fish came over. Bob called. He finally got a job! For $4.90 an hour. Pretty good. I talked on the phone to Stacey. She got her driver's permit today. I watched the great WKRP, but could hardly hear it cause of all the talking going on!

Tuesday March 6, 1979

Classes were real short today. There was a state wide tornado drill. I bowled a 90. I drove us straight home cause I felt sick. Prunella had arrived unexpectedly. Boy do I have cramps bad! I ate 2 tacos. Talked on the phone to Stacey about driving. Ma bought a good color t.v. for only $80. It isn't working too well though. Watched Mork on Happy Days. Oh, my gut feels gross!

I miss Buster so much. I wrote him a long letter last night and cried a bunch. Every night, I pray that the Lord will bring us back together, and in my heart, I know that He will someday. Just like all last year, I prayed for C&T to come to Peoria, & for me to meet them.

Wednesday March 7, 1979

I didn't feel to good when I woke up. So, ma let me stay home. She drove us to the mall. I saw a hunky guy who works at the radio shak. I got tape mailers, and picked up my pen-pal's pics. I got my radio operator's permit! Alright! Soon, I'll make an audition tape & apply at WCLL. Mom wrote to the Mt. View high school to see if they have the classes I wanna take. If so, I've agreed to move there around Thanksgiving in my junior year. I called Mark, but he was on the air in the production room. I told Ron I'd call back, but I didn't. I still feel gross! Stacey called. She said everyone at school thought I went shopping. Some friends, huh? I watched Carol Burnett, Newlywed Game, 8 is Enough, One Day at a Time and The Jeffersons. I'm getting real far on my Snoopy rug. Now, I'm gonna try to get some sleep.

We had a little snow today.

Thursday March 8, 1979

hi:38, low: 32

I didn't go to prison today either. I laid around. I made an audition tape & a resume for WCLL, and will mail them tomarrow. I want a job there more than anything!

I watched Mork.

I also saw him on the people's choice awards. He was nominated for 4 things. He should have won all of them, but only won 2.

I'm half way through my Snoopy rug. It looks pretty neat.

Well, gotta go to bed!

Friday March 9, 1979

hi:35, low:24

When I woke up, we were getting some of that good ol' white stuff. 'Bout time! I was pretty sick of seeing that yucky green grass that was starting to show through! In Biz, he gave me a bunch of work for the weekend. In fart, I got my prints back. I got an A. In English, I took a test that I didn't have a chance to study for. At lunch, some idiot pulled the fire drill, and we had to go out in the freezing snow! I drove us home, stopping at the Del Farm on the way for sodie. Then I cruised the subdivision by myself for 15 minutes. Dad yelled at me. I ate some crappy stew that mom made. Guess I ain't gonna hear from Stacy again. What a retard! I watched Carol Burnett, The Odd Couple, Different Strokes, What's Happenin', Turn About.

At the time, I'm on the turlet with a horrible gut ache. If I ever get off it, I'm gonna go get a Tums!

Saturday March 10, 1979

hi:25, low: 7

Today was good enough. I got to solo all the way into Chilli & back. No problems at all. I did just great! Me, mom & Aunt Dot went shopping. I got a few things. Including this 10 color pen. I got one letter. The girl said she saw D&T on a show and Pooh has a perm! Oh brother! Can this be? Yuck! I didn't think he was that type! Ma & dad went to the Brem's. I decided to stay home. I'm watching Chips. Then I watched B.J. & the Bear. I found Gomez wandering around loose so, I put him in the garage. I did a gob of business math homework. I'll finish it tomarrow. We're gonna have one hell of a flood around the beginning of the week! Time for "De Plane." I'm gonna work on my rug a bit.

Sunday March 11, 1979

Today was kinda stinky. I didn't feel too talkative, so mom crabbed at me all day. She said I was being snobby. Even when I don't talk to her, it starts an argument. We went to Aunt Dot's & ate dinner. Steve & Co. were there. When I got home, I cruised the neighborhood. I watched t.v. I wrote Buster a mushy letter. I made greasy popcorn. I watched more t.v. Mom continued to crab at me. I watched more t.v. I talked on the phone to Stacey. I watched more t.v.

Mon. March 12, 1979

I was in a good mood most of the day. In P.E., I was humiliated once again. The weather was beautiful. Sunny and up to 36! We went to Bergner's & Kroger. I cruised the neighborhood. I thought I'd show Pot-head what a sweetheart I am, so I gave her a ride. Kill 'em with kindness, I always say. Notice how my writing kept getting bigger? Mork (Robin Williams) was on a salute to Alfred Hitchcock. He's such a cutie! I love him! His wife was there too. She's pretty. (Mork's not Alfie)

Tuesday March 13, 1979

Today was good! I bowled a 136! Wow! The best I've ever gotten! Wanna here something great?! I got a letter from the general manager of WCLL! He says there are no openings right now, but said for me to stop by, fill out an application & take a tour of the station! So, that's exactly what I did! It was pretty good. The secretary showed me the control room. I talked to their lady jock. The secretary says she's sure Mr. W. will get in touch with me. I hope I get the job! I hope someone leaves soon! I think I left them with a good impression! Looks like the start of my career!

I watched Happy Day's, Laverne & Shirley, 3's Company

Today it was sunny and got up to 57!!!

Stacey got contac lenses.

Wednesday March 14, 1979

Average day. It was cold & there were a few snow flurries. I wore my boots & knickers. In Art, I painted my pen. In English, I wrote 2 poems. I'm going to try out for the school's spring play, M.A.S.H. Won't that be neat if I get a part!? I drove me & mom to Grandma's. She gave me 5$ and a box of candy for my birthday. I didn't eat supper. I crused the neighborhood. I cleaned my room. I talked on the phone to Stacey. I watched t.v. I typed a letter to Mark and enclosed a copy of the letter I got from WCLL. I'll mail it tomarrow. Snookum has been such a good boy.

Thursday March 15, 1979

Before the first bell rang, me, Shelly & Darcy signed up to tryout for a few parts in M.A.S.H. We had shit for supper. My mom hates me! She gets her jollies out of taking things I say and twisting them all around until they mean something completely different! I drove solo to the Conveinient & back. I drive alot better when neither parent is present. We got a letter from the Mt. View (Arkansas) High School. They don't have 1/2 of the classes we do here. So, I say, to hell with that, I'm finishing school at good ol' I.V.C.H.S. It may upset the folks, but I ain't budging. A pen-pal tells me that Toni's pregnant. Ha, that's a pretty funny one! Mork was hilarious! After a great debate, me & Stacey finally got our way! Turns out that Saturday, after tryouts, I'm driving myself to her house, spending the night, and in the morning I drive myself back! Isn't that great? What a change of pace!

I watched SOAP. I'm gonna go to bed now.

Friday March 16, 1979

high: 47, low:24

Kind of a stinko day! I went in and got scripts for the other 2 parts I'm trying out for. The dance we did in PE was sorta fun. I drove me & ma into the Peoria library to return an album I checked out. I froze my stinkin' cobobules off washing the f***ing car! And what do I get for doing it? Not a damn thing, 'cept a slight twinge of the swine flu! I made some chocolate chip cookies. Instead of thanks, I get, "Pick up your mess!" All evening, I was waiting for Turnabout to be on, but is it? Noooooo! Why should it be, just because I told the whole world to watch it! I sure wish this were a year ago! I loved 1978! I know I'd do a few things different the 2nd time around! Like I'd have gotten friendlier with Buster sooner!

1979 IS DULL!!

Saturday March 17, 1979 (M*A*S*H tryouts)

Today was mostly bad! I went to the tryouts. Liz & her snotty friends tried out for the part I wanted when she wasn't even signed up for it! I was real upset & just walked out. We went to Wendy's but I didn't eat anything. I drove myself up to stacey's. I took the longest way possible.

We watched t.v. & stuff.

Sunday March 18, 1979 (73 DEGREES)

The day was beautiful. It got up to 73!! I needed to take a nap but couldn't sleep. I drove home the longest way possible. I looked at slides and sorted them out.

We went to the Demean's. I met their girls. They were nice but wierd!

I trained real hard.

Monday March 19, 1979 (287 days left in this stinkin' year)

Funky WinkerbeanToday was shabby. I almost fell asleep in every class.

The temp was beautiful (70), and it was springy out.

Snookum almost tore ma's arm off, so he's outside permanantly now.

I drove us up to Thompson's & home after school. I drove the truck around the neighborhood with dad.

I watched the new C.B. show: "You're the Greatest, Charlie Brown."

Now, I'm gonna go to sleep super early cuz I didn't hardly get no sleep the whole strinkin' weekend!

Tuesday March 20, 1979

We had a test in (F)art. We wrote epitaphs in English. I wrote some quite humorous ones. I only bowled a 94 today. Dad picked me up cuz ma is spending 3 days at the U. of I. for some Home Extension thing. I didn't get any mail. Dad let me drive the truck home from prison. I let the Snook in for a bit. I watched M*A*S*H, and Batman. I made lasagna for supper. I wached Leif's sister on an afterschool special. I rode my bike up the street. I called Shelly & Darcy. We're gonna try-out for the Bonwit Sisters tomarrow at 5. I watched t.v. I want to apply for this job at Long John Silvers, but when? Can't tomarrow, gotta try out for the play. Thursday, dad won't take me, mom won't be home yet! Friday, they may not be taking applications, or I may have the part in the play and won't be able to! Life is so confusing!

Think I'll go sleep on it now!

Wednesday March 21, 1979 (First day of Spring)

I was in a pretty good mood all day. I discovered a new voice for Agnes. I tried it at try outs today. I think people like it. I hope I got the part. One thing I didn't get, was some mail. I cooked corn dogs. Shelly called. I looked at the paper. Stacey called. I watched a re-run of 8 is Enough.

I've got a headache, I think I'll go to bed.

Thursday March 22, 1979 (flooding)

Mike picked me up from school. Mom got home around 4:30. I made spaghetti for supper. I rode down to the store with Mike. There was a lard ass dumb broad down there. I watched a re-run of Mork & Mindy. I talked on the phone to Stacey. Rosanne called. It got up to 63. The flood is coming up over the highway.

I got a new t.v. guide. C&T are on 3 shows this week! Saturday, they are re-running the Love Boat with Toni, Then later that night, C&T are live on the Easter Seal Telethon! Monday night, is their very own special!!!!!

Friday March 23, 1979 (My bowling average is 93)

I got the part of Korean Woman #2. BUMMER! I was really pissed for awhile.

I ate supper. I answered lettters. I talked.

The flood is breaking all kinds of records. You should see it! Amazing.

I watched t.v.

Saturday March 24, 1979

It snowed all day! Oh yuck! I went shopping anyway! I got some Mork suspender's. I got my tax money back in the mail. I made party mix. We let Snookums in. I love him. He's a sweetheart! I watched Jim Stafford on Hee Haw. Then, I watched Toni on a re-run of the Love Boat. During that show, I saw a commercial for Daryl and Toni's special. Pooh's hair is really cute from what I can see! Looks like Boo-bah's! Hi of 41 Low of 22.

1 1/2" of snow we got today!

Sunday March 25, 1979

All day, I watched that stinking telethon. But Pooh & Toni weren't on it! They might've been, but Peoria kept using network time for their own local benefit.

It snowed all day.

Why are there green Snoopys on the outside of this book.

Monday March 26, 1979Captain & Tennille clipping from TV Guide

I stayed home.

The Captain & Tennille show was great! Pooh's hair is really cute! The show was fantastic. They're so cute! Pooh sang the blues! It was great.

I watched WKRP. It was good.

Tuesday March 27, 1979

fire at school clippingI went to school. I wore my Mork suspenders with my gym suit. I'm a riot! After school, I drove us to Sheridan Village where I cashed my tax check. I got Mark an April Fools day card. We went to K-Mart to leave film. I got a bubble gum ice cream cone. I drove us home. I watched Batman, then made tacos. I got to cruise around the neighborhood. I'm a good driver! I watched Carol Burnett. Someone burned up the auditorium at school! I watched "Cliffhangers" My fave is Dracula '79. He's a cutie! In English, we're reading Julius Caesar (I'm not) It sucks royal. I'm gonna watch a scary movie now. Dad called our neighbors in Arkansas. The weather is much better down there.

Wednesday March 28, 1979

Chicago flower show ticketToday was quite a day. There were 2 more people on the bus than there were supposed to be, so the driver had to get a folding chair for me. Mom sat on the floor. At the flower show, I had a shirt made of Buster. They made a computer picture of a photo. The mall was too fancy & expensive to buy anything. There was a 2 semi- 2 car accident on the way home & we didn't get back till after 11.

Thursday March 29, 1979 (LONG STINKS CAESAR)

Had real bad rain. I'm not understanding Julius Caesar. We're playing badmitton. I got 2 letters in the mail. I'm watching Batman. Snookums is laying on my arm. William Shakespeare must have been a guitarist, because he sure as hell wasn't a writer! Dad got emotional over the evening news. I'm watching Carol Burnett featuring the ever popular Mr. Tuddball & Mrs. Ha-Viggins. I'm treated like a baby. I want to go where I want to go when I want to go!! I watched a repeat of Mork. Stacey helped me with my f***in' homework over the phone. I watched Angie.

Friday March 30, 1979

Today was pretty good. I got my grades. My Typing teacher stinks. After school, we went to Sheridan Village. I went to Zales Jewelers and bought me & Buster Mizpah coin necklaces. They are really boss. Together, they say: "The Lord Watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another" I love 'em! I'll mail Mark his half after I think up a good thing to say. I had a beautiful dream about him last night! I know some day the Lord will bring us back together.

I got out all 8 of my diaries, and me & Stacey did some reminising.

I hope Buster will wear the other half. I hope he don't get mad & send it back, or just totally ignore me & think I'm taking things to far. But before he left, he told me how much he likes me & said he'd always feel that way about me!

Saturday March 31, 1979

hi: 42, low 38

Woke up with horrible gut pains! The worst I've felt in my whole dull life. I didn't feel better until around 1 in the afternoon. I watched a bunch of t.v.

Mike drove me up to Stacey's and her parents took us to see my ugly sweetheart (still don't know just why I like him!) in "Murder by Decree." It was a good gory movie; hard to understand, but good! They brung me home too.

The Brem's are over. We're talking about wills. I think I'll need to write one soon, if Prunella gets any meaner in the following months to come.

Stay tuned for April 1979:

--I call Buster;
--Jimmy Carter and the energy crisis
--Spring Break in (ugh) Arkansas
--I get a job as a waitress at Farrell's Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor in Northwoods Mall
