God I love
Medea Benjamin. If it were possible, I'd have her children.
A quickie: I just saw a commercial for a prescription sleep aid...one side effect: drowsiness.
You think?
Holy Crap! Monkeys ARE flying out of my butt...
I actually
agree with Pat Buchanan. Dogs and cats...living together...mass hysteria!
[I may be coming late to the party on this one, but I swear I just heard about this]
Memo to The War Criminal:
That
back rub move doesn't work. Trust me, you dumbass.
And on a webjournal note...do you know what sucks more than trying to juggle three women? Trying to juggle three
buddies.
This clip from The Daily Show is without a doubt, one of the most brilliant pieces of...well, I don't know what to call it. I guess it's satirical, but if you take that part out, it's still brilliant in how it juxtaposes The War Criminal's reasoning for vetoing the stem cell research bill versus his indifference to civillian casualties in Iraq.
If they wanted to go further, they could have looked at clips of The War Criminal on Katrina, Capital Punnishment and more.
OK,
here's the clip. I doubt it's captioned, though and there isn't a transcript.
Wow...and then there's
this, from the Colbert Report. I...uh...OK...personally I think it's funny. But if I worked for Congressman Wexler, I would have had a heart attack...there's no way a Republican would have done this - even if he or she was running unopposed like Wexler. Wow.
I don't mean any offense by this...but a thought came to mind. I was watching an old rerun of MASH...yeah, I know...lame, but stay with me. For some odd reason I wondered:
Did Jamie Farr get any groupies?
Seriously. The concept of the groupie always facinated me. Yeah, yeah, yeah...there's the usual fantasy aspect. But the mindset of the woman. What makes them think that their self-worth comes from...well...being a groupie? It seems pretty one-sided.
So, was there someone who looked at Jamie Farr and said - "he must be mine."
I need a hobby.
If you're a teacher you've heard this...heck, if you ever been a
student you've heard this. "Why do we have to learn this?" Or some variation thereof.
When I'm teaching and someone asks me this, I ususally have an answer - not one that satisfies the kid, but an answer. But now I have an example...a real, true-to-life example of the flaming example of useless education:
the Pythagorean theorem.
Yep. It was actually used, by a judge, in court, to refute a lawsuit.
Read about it here.So Math Teachers, the next time a snotty kid asks you why do they have to learn the Pythagorean theorem, hit him with the story of the judge that figured out the bathroom stink retention coefficient of a prison cell using the all-mighty Pythagorean theorem.
Class dimsissed.
No, I haven't stopped posting. Things have been hectic on the old personal front - some good, some bad, some bizarre - and it's all taken me away from being online as much. But it looks like I'm back in a groove so let me comment on a few things:
Israel...damn, man. Chill out. Talk about an f-ing bully. They've put themselves in this place where they almost
have to be paranoid. It's where the US is going to be soon as well. If you keep treating folks like shit, you can't be surprised when they try to shit on you. This, "we have to protect ourselves" crap just doesn't cut it.
You gotta take care of yourself, but not by screwing everyone else. But of course the US isn't helping. Go figure. There was a resolution in the UN yesterday that not only told Israel that they should chill, but that Palestinians & the Lebenese should as well. US vetoed it. Not that the resolution would have done anything anyway.
And speaking of the UN and US...I will borrow a quote from Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam...John Bolton is in more dire need of a blow job than any white man in history. And I thought I previously held that distinction.

I've been watching this election season unfold and I'm getting frorried, or Wrustrated...whatever worried & frustrated combined are. Progressive Democrats actually
are starting to organize. Yeah, in theory it sounds OK, but this is what's bothering me. They're still taking on a
if it's Democrat, it's alright approach. (Granted, the situation in Conneticut is the exception)
But what are they really organizing for? To back to the "good old days" of Bill Clinton? Oy. Progressives who know they're stuff aren't really down with Bubba. These folks are getting their shit together to go back to the old status quo. That's a huge let down.
Meanwhile there are a number of non-dem progressives who have been in the fight for a long time who are still being ignored. If you're a regular here you know that I'm mainly referring to the Green Party, but it's not just them, it's all non-dem progressives.
Damn, if you're going to get it together, don't do it for half-assed goals.

Semi-connected to that - if you've been following the recent election in Mexico, the similarities with the US elections of 2000 & 2004 are no surprise. And there
are connections between The War Criminal's fraudulent "wins" and the one in Mexico. But what kills me are the people who hit the street in Mexico to protest -
right after all this went down. It didn't take months of planning and negotiating between different lefty factions. People are still protesting down there. Shoot, we should be picking
their fruit.
Greg Palast, who has the most annoying on-air delivery this side of Mark Riley from Air America,
makes some really good points in his editorial on the dissimilarities of Mexicans who are pissed and US Democrats. OK...I'm back.
