We got a bit stupid on this week's Podcast. When the lesbian declared she was the real father of Anna Nicole's baby, I knew we were going downhill...I ended up calling the baby a "gooey lotto ticket". That morphed into a discussion of the Vagina Monologues - which I'm volunteering in a local production of. No big surprise that I'm now called Johnny Vagina. I sure hope I get a cape with that new title.

I'm still a bit frustrated with the podcast - on a techincal level. I put myself into debt by buying all this equipment, including a new laptop, and I still can't get to do what I want with the show. Right now, I'm being held up by a $50 usb cable that's on backorder. Oh...and Vista? BLOWS!!!!! I'm sure no one's surprised. With all the crap I've had to buy to get stuff to work because nothing old works with Vista, I could have just bought a Mac. Which is what I will be doing the next time I buy a computer.

On a totally unrelated note...I saw 2 different people park in different parking lots, taking up 3 spaces so that no one would park near their cars. And their cars weren't anything special. Dude, no one's going to be fucking with your Honda Accord. It wasn't even pimped out! Douchebags.

I was digging for something through some boxes and found this folder
with some really old notes, scripts, etc for comedy bits I wrote about
15 years ago for all the tapes I used to do. Some of the bits were done
already. Some weren't. And of those, there were a few ideas that were
not half bad. So tonight at work I started sprucing them up a little
bit - adding a few references from this century. So now we have a huge backlog of bits for the podcast. We started recording some of them, but we're a bit, ahem out of shape. They need to be redone. So, stay tuned to podcast. We have some pretty cool stuff coming up.

I just can't seem to stop tonight...I wanted the post on Tim Ryan to be my focus, but there's just something else abrewin' and I want to get it down while my thoughts are relatively together...it's about history.

Yes, I know...everyone hated social studies in high school. Amidst cries of "why do we have to know this" comes sighs, rolled eyes, sucked teeth and uncontrollable adolescent erections (which really have nothing to do with this point, it's just true). The thing is...The War Criminal & company are doing shit that's been done over and over again through history and it's NEVER...EVER worked. Militarism, imperialism & facism have always led to the downfall of every country who has tried to use them...and we're doing all three! It's like they never went to 10th grade social studies.

But it get's worse...because now you have freakin idiots in the House arguing over one of the dumbest and most useless things ever...this non-binding resolution about Iraq...by the way, every Rep who actively fought for or against this should be fired - just for wasting our time. But now you have idiots going on the floor of the house and saying ridiculous things like:

Virgil Goode and his KKK crap.(you tube)
Don Young using a fake Lincoln quote that he never bothered to check. (you tube)
Todd Akin who claims a resolution like this back in the day would have been disasterous for Davey Crockett at the Alamo - which he lost anyway you f-ing dumbass! (hilarious Daily Show clip)

These stupid motherfuckers are voted in by stupider motherfuckers.

If these assholes would have paid attention in class, they not only wouldn't look like such idiots now, but would probably do their jobs better as well.

OK, lesson over.

Wow...I must've been asleep at the wheel here...I've never heard of this guy before. I just saw a clip on Crooks & Liars of Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio speaking, today, I believe. He's freakin good. Here's the clip (wmv)

So I went to You Tube, hoping to find the clip to embed here, but it hasn't been posted yet. But I did find another recent one of him speaking that's pretty good, too. I like this guy:

I hope he doesn't have sex or money...that way he can go without scandal and maybe run for higher office...sadly.

So, I also bumped into a good blog posting about Dems still getting bullied by Republicans about funding the war. Check out this post at MyDD. Well said.

On the Podcast, we've been encouraging folks to call their Representative & Senators to tell them to stop funding the war. E-mails won't work here, we have to call. It's pretty much the only way we're going to get this war stopped...Kucinich is the only presidential candidate who will flatly say he will pull troops out immediately and we're all too fucking stupid to vote for him. (actually, the party itself would never let him win the nomination - which is why "progressives" who register Dem to work for him are wasting their time)

So, again. Call your so-called representatives! I did it and it took a total of 8 minutes to leave messages with all 3 - and that includes the 5 minutes Clintonbagger put me on hold. Here are the links:

Your Senator
Your Congressperson

Call!

Thank You, Jesus! Al Franken is no longer on Air America. In case you haven't heard, he stopped doing his radio show to run for the Senate...Perfect! Now that he's perfected the, "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh", he'll be right at home on C-Span. Well, Gopher from the Love Boat & Sonny Bono he's not (who were reps...I know), but he'll fit right in - no problem.

On an unrelated note...go catch the latest podcast! It's over at bedasso.blogspot.com.

On a semi-connected note...to help make the podcast, I spent money I didn't have and got a laptop...but you can't buy a new PC that doesn't have Windows Vista on it. I've only had the thing for a day and no real problems with the OS...but there's a lot of shit that doesn't go with Vista yet. Thanks.

It's been a bit tough posting here the past week or so. To be honest the podcast has been taking up a lot of my mental energy - which isn't a bad thing. I've been struggling with how political it should get, versus just the three of us talking about our lives versus playing music. So far the music's been losing out - to my surprise. But I've really been enjoying the experience. My credit rating hasn't though. God, I've spent a lot of money on equipment - I just ordered a new laptop to go with the mixer, microphones, etc. Did I mention how much I'm enjoying it?

There's also a MySpace page for the show as well. One of the hosts, Keziah, is a MySpace freak so she created a page for the show. You can check it out at http://myspace.com/bedasso. I haven't found my MySpace experience to be that much fun so far. Every page is really obnoxious. One good thing that has come out of dealing with it though is that I found a friend from a teaching job I used to have. I had a huge crush on her, but she was married. Turns out she's now divorced (or so the mypage site says). So I actually got in touch...we'll see what happens. Gosh, I hope she hasn't been secretly been one of the 3 people who reads this site...oh well, more grist for the therapy mill.

So to sum up...podcast good...myspace bad...old crushes...uh...exciting yet scary.

BAAAAAAA! BAAAAAAAAA!

Yes folks, I am a sheep. I follow the herd. I get on here and bitch and moan, but in the end, I succomb to the lure of shiny objects. Moving pictures, horseless carriages, talkies, rock & roll...I never thought they would catch on, but look at me now, tooling around in my Chevy Prism, listening to Rush as I go to rent a DVD.

Seriously...for a long time I insisted I'd never get a cell phone. Then (at the time) the only company that provided landline service pissed me off. Fine, I get a cell phone. I bitch about how people walk around like ipod drones with headphones in their ears, oblivious to the rest of the world, retarding their social skills...

...I got an ipod.

As I started to get ready to produce the podcast, I need to figure out how to play music on the show. Using my desktop ended up being too awkward. Running a boom box through the mixer sounded lousy. So I figured I'd get an ipod - I also needed something to use at the gym...the old walkman just wasn't cutting it anymore. It was a bit awkward on the first podcast this past week. Being the old person I am, I didn't quite have a grip on the technology yet - I have to actually practice using it - but to be fair, I'm not just playing any music. I have songs to play in a certain order, with breaks and adjusting volume levels. But I'll get it. And I have to admit...I used the thing at the gym today for the first time...it was pretty cool.

But I swear...all of you have permission to run me over if I ever buy an iphone.

The Stuart Bedasso Show is finally here! We did our first podcast last night and it turned out pretty good. The major glitch in it right now is me getting comfortable with the technology. I've tried to make it as close as possible to radio work I've done, but it's not quite and it's made it a bit awkward for me to record the show, but I'll get the hang of it.

You can check out the show at: Bedasso.blogspot.com

In the hour, we talked a lot...in fact we only got to 4 songs and 1 "bit". Which is OK I guess. I'm thinking that I may have to give Keziah & Erick a topic or two that I'm going to throw at them a couple of days before the next taping. We'll see.

So, it looks like the show probably won't take too many serious turns and actually, there'll be more on my mind that I won't be able to get out on the show so I'll still be using this blog. (the internet is saved)
