I'm semi-hesitant to post this, but first of all, it's too funny, second, he called my statement "dumb", and third, it's a beautiful lesson for us all.

If you haven't seen it yet, some guy posted a comment to my last post on the hypocracy of the Catholic Church lecturing Islam (according to Time Magazine).

Now, like anyone who expresses his/her opinion, before you decide if you agree or not you should see what other nuggets of wisdom this person has espewed. I relate this to anyone in the mainstream media as well as a random blogger. That's what I did. I will give this Nelson guy credit - he didn't post annonymously. That's cool. But I did follow the link to his site and read a bit (which is what bloggers do).

Now, his comment on this site left out a bit of what he posted on his own. He includes:
The Church's primary mission on Earth is not to help the poor and it would be demeaning to the Church to think so. It helps fascilitate charity because that's one of the Lord's commandments, but its primary mission is to guide its flock to Heaven by representing God's law on Earth.I'm always astonished that only people who hate the Church advise it to sell its Churches or to not build any more. Doesn't he imagine that poor people may like going to beautiful Churches? And if it did sell its things and give them to the poor, what would it do the next week? I also wonder why he doesn't advise big donors to the Democrat party to give away its possessions and help Africa? Or, and he might be kind of wierded out by this idea, for him to sell his stuff and help the poor.

As in my comment to his comment - the Church is a man-made institution, the bible a work of fiction. If you're telling me that huge, ornate churches is what guides it's flock to heaven, then...OK, I'll just say it - your relgion stinks, in my humble opinion.

The second issue has to do with the Church's role in history and its efforts to alleviate suffering and violence, elevate the status of women and children, or diminish terror. Well, he should compare the level of violence in the world before the Church was born and after its period of greatest influence in the world, the status of women and children before the Church, and the level of terror outside of its sway. Even the Church at its worst does not compare to radical Islam today. To compare the modern Catholic Church and Radical Islam is delusional.

Sparky, this is soooo out of context to what I said. First, I was addressing the specific article in Time. It is YOU who insinuated that all Islam is "radical" with your statement. And it's convenient to brush off the Catholic Church's sexism, elitism and violence that exists even today. I do not support ANY person or institution that supports violence & bias. That's why I'm neither a Catholic or Muslim. My point of the original post was Let him who is without sin cast the first stone. Sound familiar?

Oh, and onto the funny part - if go to homie's site and look at the post right before his post about me...Dude got sick from making tea out of those "Do Not Eat" packets you get with shoes, computer parts, etc. I guess if this post is a joke then I'm pretty gullible, but...I don't know...you be the judge. If this is actually true, hello, Darwin Awards?

I was at the gym last night...no, this isn't another rant about homoerotic spotting or eating garbage plates in the gym. I saw the cover of the latest edition of Time Magazine. My only reaction was - huh? This was the cover:

The Pope Confronts Islam? The Pope? Confronts Islam?

OK, that's like a dog confronting a guy who can lick his own balls...

No, wait. That's like Ted Haggard confronting gay meth-heads.

Or, Jerry Faldwell confronting, pompus, hypocritical fatasses.

Or Dubya confronting terrorists.

You get the point.

Look, I'm not defending Islam, but I am saying that it's freakin hypocritical for anyone from the Catholic Church to be talking to anyone about violence...or terror...or treatment of women...or children. As long as there is one gigantic, ornamented church in the world and one hungry person, the Pope needs to sit his ass down and shut up. He should be having the world's biggest yard sale in front of the Vatican and using the money for sustainable agricultural projects in Africa & Central America.

Oh, and that lovely piece of semi-historical fiction...hmmmm...what's that thing called again? Oh yeah, the Bible. What a lovely piece of non-violence that is.

Now, I got issues with Islam as well (and not what most would think are the obvious ones, either), and I'll focus on that when Time's cover story is Islam Confronts Catholics.

Over the past few months I've had contact with two different people who...uh...have shared custody with their former significant other of their pets. My first reaction to this was - hey, it's just a damn dog. But then I started to think about it...I still can't bring myself to get another pet after having to put Jamie down. I even moved into a place that doesn't allow pets so that I wouldn't get tempted again. But man...if I broke up with someone (these weren't even divorces) and had to keep seeing that person becuase of Fido...

Boy, that better be one special dog. It better fetch beer & porn. I'm just saying.

Alright. Everyone take a step back and breathe. There ain't going to be no draft happening.

Charlie Rangel brought it up. Nice job of getting the pub, Chuck. It's not going to happen. Politicians are too concerned with their own re-election to try it and the warmongers know that if there's a draft instituted, there will be protests ala Vietnam whenever they force kids to die for shitty reasons.

A progressive friend thought it would be a good idea because it would then force the rich(er) white suburban kids to get out there and die for their country. Eh, the ones who really should be out there - like the kids of politicians & CEO's - will never make it to battle, if in the military at all.

It's always been that way. Another instance of people not knowing their history.

Not needing a military is not going to happen for a very, very long time. Oh, it won't happen at all if we keep allowing to happen what happens. We keep doing the same shit over and over.

At first, this really, really offended me. But the more I think about it, the more I just have to laugh. This could be the dumbest muther whose ever lived. I don't care what people do for TV ratings, this is just so freaking stupid...

OK, this douchebag, Glenn Beck interviews Congressman Keith Ellison - who is the only Muslim in congress. Beck asks him why he shouldn't ask him to prove why he isn't a terrorist (which means he really just asked him if he was a terrorist).

At that moment, a cameraperson should have just walked up and kicked Beck in the nads. This guy needs to be prison raped.

Dude, just go the f-away. Here's the Daily Show take on it.

================================================================================

There are some changes in the works here. I'm not exactly sure what & when, but by-golly they will be happening. It could be a revamping, but if life-events dictate it, we may be going away completely...but if that's the case it will be for a good thing. But if not, then we hope to have a more visually appealing site. Stay tuned.

I have a million things I'd like to cover, but I don't have a lot of time, so I'll just hit one. And yes, I know that everyone is going to be saying this, but I must put in my two cents.

Everyone needs idle time. Spare time. Leisure time. As (hopefully) thinking, civilized humans, we need diversions to help us regenerate, replensish our energy. There are a gazillion ways to do this. Some do things that focus on body, mind and or spirit. Some focus on one or more of the "deadly sins". Hell, some folks just sit around jerking off all day. Hey, different strokes...

But I must say this...if you stood in any kind of line for a video game system, you are a fucking loser. If you ran, herded, stampeded or took any kind of aggressive action to get one of these shitboxes, you are an obnoxious fucking loser. If you decided to just buy one for 4-digits on E-Bay, you're a lazy, obnoxious, fucking loser.

It's funny...we wonder why there are so many out-of-touch, people in this country then encourage them to act like these morons. Uh....duh.

UPDATE: Oh yeah, and if you're a parent who bought your kid one of these, you're a fucking breeding loser who should be sterilized.

Holy Crap! I can’t even put this into prose:

Go Dems! We’re number one! We’re number one! Losers.

This was my response to the last one:

{sigh} Every time people who are labelled "liberals" push through legislation (minimum wage increases for example), everyone else cries that the sky is falling. Then when these things are actually enacted and chaos does NOT ensue no one says a word. If you wait until you (hope to) have a bigger majority, the special interests will have time to get a grip on the newbies. Stop throwing around labels and get stuff done. When things actually start to improve, most will just shut up and go with it. God, so-called Dems are going to blow this opportunity - again.

Last night I was in a beer store, aptly entitled Beers of the World with a hot chick. No, I swear to god, this isn't some "A Rabii, a priest and a monk walk into a bar" joke.

Where was I? Oh yeah, I was in Beers of the World with a hot chick last night. And a thought popped into my head:

God damn, this is the best dream I've ever had. The only thing that would make it better is if we were having sex on a case of Guinness.

I told her the first part of that, but not the second. I would have gotten hit upside the head with a jug of Mississippi Mud.

Speaking of Guinness...did you know the voice for the two "Brilliant" dudes in the cartoon Guinness commercials is done by Malachy McCourt. Who's that, you ask? He was the recent Green Party of New York's candidate for Governor...the guy who was 9000 votes short of getting the Greens ballot status. Malachy ran his ass off...progressives in NY suck ass.

So on the "news", I'm seeing headlines like "GOP DOA?" and "Republicans Rock Bottom"

Sheeple, there's no need to worry, the Democrats will uphold Republican values better than Republicans have. Hooray! The King is dead! Long live the King!

I'm going to make a drink.

{sigh} I'm assuming you voted today. I did, but I'm not particularly happy about it. Sure, I voted for the Green candidates, but the rest...OY! Talk about holding your nose. It was so depressing choosing between dumb & dumber. In a couple of races, I couldn't choose at all.

Democrats are creaming their jeans that they're going to do so well today. But it's for mediocrity. A lot of their candidates are former Republicans. They're begging military people to run as Dems so they can say they're more willing to kill than Republicans. Whoopee!

I was listening to Stephanie Miller today and she was urging Republicans to vote for Democrats because they are true centrists. I don't want centrists. I want humanists.

I'd like to say that I'm glad that this is over, but it's not. Next comes the voter fraud allegations. Stay tuned.

Good blogs aren't supposed to just reiterate stuff that everyone else is saying...but I just can't help this. I think it's because I'm really astounded by the...ummmm...I can't decide if it's cluelessness or indifference, but I'm amazed how every single thing that comes out of the mouth of anyone connected to The War Criminal cannot be trusted. If Tony Snow said that the sky was blue, I'd have to doubt it. It's to the point that when I see any statement or report from any government agency I don't believe it's validity or accuracy. This is because they have chipped away at every department, made every agency even more impotent than they already were.

Yes, we can go to the strategy of screwing up the government so badly that people will be calling for it's downsizing to "drown it in a bathtub". But damn, people are losing their lives because of it. I guess we shouldn't be that startled by it. So-called leaders have been sacrificing their people for thousands of years.

I guess no matter how much we grow up and become savy to their wily ways, we still have that indoctrination we went through as schoolchildren. How the US could do no wrong, George Washington couldn't tell a lie, blah, blah, blah. Some folks just take that black & white thinking and apply it in other ways as adults...thus you have people who believe everything O'Liar & Fibaugh say and spew it back or even Greens who pray at the altar of Nader.

Most of the so-called progressives in the system just use it when they need it, but can go to the center at a moment's notice. That's not nuance, that's opportunity.

I just can't wait for Tuesday to be over with so we can get on to the next shovel of bullshit.
